Well...duh

That's a pretty god litmus test for "is this a good law?" If there is an argument for why it shouldn't apply to _insertanycategory or group of people here_, that's a pretty good indication that, no, it's not a good law.

I think I've come to the conclusion that, if I could wave a magic wand and change something with laws/government, making all laws apply equally to all people would be the most efficient and effective change possible. You wouldn't even have to worry very much about specific laws or regulations or any of that, just say it applies to EVERYBODY, all the time.

Now, granted,someexceptions are needed, like Sheriff Deputies being armed in a courthouse while court spectators cannot be, so, not sure how to handle that...because pretty much no matter how you word or frame it, it will be taken advantage of (like how politically connected and corrupted folks get deputized or now the judge in Chicago drops the gun on video and is let off...I'm rambling now)

Decided what's coming home with me next.

Going today to order a P229 Enhanced Elite. When it gets here, going to send it off to Sig for the action enhancement package, then add the Hogue G10 grips when it's back.

If I remember correctly, when the CO mag ban crap was going down . . . some R state senator pushed an amendment that would apply the restrictions (if passed) to LEO as a poison pill. But he took a lot of heat for it and backed down--ironically because dems and republican's made a lot of noise around (ironically) making cops less safe. Not that they minded making US less safe.

Only on duty LE exemptions should be secure access locations like jails, prisons, courthouses, secure area of airports, etc, where the active duty officers are actively doing their job and it requires a firearm...and every other person must go through security screening to get in or out...and that includes off duty not being able to carry there.

I will soon be part of this club brahs

I have a license registration form with me rn. Im going to be doing my restricted and unrestricted courses in Feb. Ive never shot a gun in my life and am a complete noob but hunting is something Ive wanted to do my entire life will hopefully go shoot a turkey this spring. I think my first purchase will be a shotgun but Id love a handgun too for the range.

Any info for a total noob would be great (literally never even held a real gun, used to own a lot of airsoft guns as a kid). Im thinking of going with the shotty (its got a good spreaaddd) since Im pretty sure I can use it to hunt anything here. From bear to ducks, also looks like itll be fun asf at the range and the prices for shottys are just crazy cheap it seems.

The handgun is mostly for fun I guess since Im not allowed to use it for anything practical (unless Im allowed to bring it on hunts with me in case something pulls up on us at camp, but Im not sure if thats even allowed) but I want one to learn to get proficient with and it to enjoy at the range.

Its a shame I cant use one to defend myself and have to politely accept getting raped in my home to avoid a murder charge if I happen to be armed but thats Canada :/

Serious question. If you are able to legally purchase a handgun in Canada, are you even allowed to use it in self defense in your own home?

To say on duty shouldn't have exemptions is a bit crazy. Think of when they are responding to something like a active shooter. At some point, if something goes wrong, the people charged with restoring the peace had better have access to the tools they need. Of course you could just lift all of the gun control laws- which I'd be happy to see happen- but that's not a reality. More likely will be places like NY and CA continue to neuter their police, until you eventually have them responding to an active shooter holding an AR-15 with their .38 special revolvers.

Some have gotten away with it but no its illegal from what I know. If I kill my potential murderer I will most likely get charged with 2nd degree or something similar.

There have been more laws passed in recent years to strengthen it but I havent seen any examples of it in effect

I just shot a dudes gen 4 19 MOS with a RM04 on it. So MOS gun with a huge dot and it was still awesome.

I kept putting off sending my slide to Relentless because I haven’t gotten to shoot a red dot pistol. Well chit, it’s going now.

But based on liking that bigger dot, wondering if an RM07 might be a better choice over an RM06 or is that crazy talk?

For firearm type I generally agree with you. I think the "lists" policy like in CA is dumb, and I honestly haven't really given it much thought in regards to whether it should apply to LE or not, so I don't really have a strong opinion, but I don't like LE's being treated as special. My reasoning for thinking LE should be exempt from the mag cap laws while on duty are similar to the reasons LE are exempt from traffic laws during emergencies. The only time a LEO would actually use a "high capacity" magazine would be if they're discharging their weapon in a life or death situation, and the high capacity magazine would benefit the officer (and therefore the public, in theory) in that situation similar to how the vehicle code exemptions help while enroute to an emergency.

Not sure how clear that was, just got done typing a bunch of research paper chit so my brain is pretty mush.

Is this a serious argument?

Gun control laws are stupid. Making them apply to on-duty police is even worse. So when someone inevitably breaks those laws and has a high capacity rifle they use to commit a crime, nobody should have legal possession of a similar type of weapon to confront them, even the people paid to stop those situations?

I read up a bit more on this just now and it seems legally I do have the right to use a firearm in self-defense if my life is in danger. The laws were loosened up about in 2013 but everything is just too vague

from department of justice website
A victim who has averted a crime by using a weapon may be less likely to report the crime, particularly in Canada, where the use of a firearm for self-protection is mostly prohibited by law and the victim may be uncertain of the legal status of the firearm. There are also difficulties created by the ambiguous nature of what respondents may report as defensive action
(2) In determining whether the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances, the court shall consider the relevant circumstances of the person, the other parties and the act, including, but not limited to, the following factors:

(a) the nature of the force or threat;

(b) the extent to which the use of force was imminent and whether there were other means available to respond to the potential use of force;

(c) the person’s role in the incident;

(d) whether any party to the incident used or threatened to use a weapon;

(e) the size, age, gender and physical capabilities of the parties to the incident;

(f) the nature, duration and history of any relationship between the parties to the incident, including any prior use or threat of force and the nature of that force or threat;

(f.1) any history of interaction or communication between the parties to the incident;

(g) the nature and proportionality of the person’s response to the use or threat of force; and

(h) whether the act committed was in response to a use or threat of force that the person knew was lawful.
So ya Im banking on a decent judge it looks like :/

Police in CA and NY being held to the same laws as the citizens they are supposed to serve, and responding to an active shooter who has a fully featured semi auto AR type rifle while the officers have revolvers, is preferable to regular folks being restricted and cops get everything.

Supreme Court will hear New York gun rights case on transporting unloaded handguns

The case concerns a New York City ban on transporting handguns except directly to and from shooting ranges, and requires the weapon to be unloaded and stored in a locked container.

Three handgun owners and the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association challenged the ban, arguing that it unconstitutionally interfered with their right to gun ownership, as well as their right to travel.

The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed the gun owners' claims, and in February of last year the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed that decision.

The gun owns brought their case to the high court in June and asked the justices to reverse the second circuit's ruling.

The justices' decision to take the case marks the first time in nearly a decade that it will delve into 2nd Amendment law.

I know what you mean.

But, allowing anybody at any time to drive without a set speed limit for example, or to violate the speed limit when they were in a hurry etc, WOULD cost lives. That would be exceptionally unsafe...allowing citizens to carry a pistol with a 12 round mag is not unsafe and does not cost lives, if anything, quite the contrary.

Additionally, there is no explicit and specific protection in the Constitution or Bill of Rights protecting a Right to operate a vehicle on a public road without infringement or anything of the like as there is with firearms.

So, both from a practical results perspective as well as a letter of the law of the land perspective, not a good comparison (traffic laws vs mag capacity)

Besides, the real main point to applying all gun control laws equally to all LE as well as private citizens, is that without the support of the "we're better than you" police, most of these ridiculous gun control laws would actually go away or not be created to begin with

No, what's worse is creating special classes of citizens that are above the law.

If higher capacity magazines or "assault weapon/rifle" features like an adjustable stock or pistol grip are that damn important for effectively using a firearm that the police have to have them, the citizens who are on the front lines and usually targeted BEFORE responding police can be notified and respond...the regular private citizens need that **** too.

The absolute worst laws are those which do not apply to all.

But based on liking that bigger dot, wondering if an RM07 might be a better choice over an RM06 or is that crazy talk?
RM06 is plenty big enough, especially considering how bright the adjustable LED's are compared to the peasant dual illuminated models like you just shot.

Folding stocks aren't a big deal. Being allowed to have more than 10 rounds, a detachable mag, and (less so) a pistol grip are big things if you're walking into an active shooter type scenario. Especially if there's more than one shooter, which has certainly happened before.

Look, I'm a huge 2A advocate and really don't agree with any restrictions on gun possession. But limiting the police is just an emotional argument based on a really nice idea that isn't going to be implemented the way you're thinking. CA will never give citizens back fully featured AR rifles. They likely will at some point yank the best weapons from law enforcement, and that's going to lead to people dying.

No, you are not a huge 2A advocate. You are literally arguing for gun control on the regular people but not on the .gov right now, you are literally arguing against everything the Second Amendment stands for and says.

Allowing government to be armed and regular citizens not is how literal millions end up dead, **** off with your active shooter people will die **** and open your eyes up to the reality of the world and the mass government backed genocides that happen regularly throughout history before campaigning against the Second and trying to tell us the government should be armed with effective firearms while we are not.

Listen... to me.... more closely.

My preference would be for the government to be 100% out of what firearms citizens can own/purchase. I just understand that's not going to happen places like CA where 80% of people hate guns. It's stupid, but it's reality. If I had a vote to do so, I'd remove all limitations to the 2A.

You're actually the one advocating for MORE gun control by restricting people who aren't currently restricted.

You're actually the one advocating for MORE gun control by restricting people who aren't currently restricted.
...restricting the government. Which, you know, is what the Bill of Rights and Second Amendment is about...restricting the government.

You keep arguing against the core concept of the Second Amendment while proclaiming to support it thoughjust another "I support the 2A but [I don't]"

That's, you know, why the Second Amendment refers to the Rightof the people...government enforcers are not who is being protected here

He’s still pimping that? He has been for yearssss. Did it even come out?

Glock pretty much put him out of business. He kept saying a single stack g19 was the future. And Glock said hold my beer and Pincus is done for before even getting started.

This says it all. Watch the whole thing. Just lol.
