oscars don't know what they're doing when it comes to popular movies. feels like they just flip back and forth on whether they include something like that or not. BP was a generic super hero movie which only had its score as the standout (even though it wasn't good enough to be nominated in that category as well).

the favourite and roma are the only nominees this year i liked, and thought the favourite was much weaker than that director's previous movies.

Black Panther is one of the GOAT Marvel movies. But thats only because of Michael B. Jordans portrayal of Killmonger. Literally on par with Heath Ledgers Joker. He was that good in it.

hereditary, leave no trace, roma, annihilation, the favourite, mission impossible and mandy were all really good. upgrade and first reformed were pretty good too. 2017 was one of the best years for movies ever IMO

I believe the whole reason they even expanded the BP nomination from 5 to 10 was because of Avatar. It wasn't Best Picture worthy compared to the other movies that year, but they believed that more people would watch the Oscars if there were "box office hits" that were nominated.

People on here getting triggered 'cause Black Panther got nominated when Bohemian Rhapsody also got nominated and is MUCH worse film. Black Panther was actually good and entertaining, Bohemian Rhapsody is so painfully average and unoriginal it is laughable. Somehow it won the Globe for best movie, LOL.

Into the Spider-verse was not only the best comic book movie out in 2018, but it is probably the best movie out period. There is literally nothing wrong with it (other than the street chase scene being a tad long for my liking).
