If HD wants to remain true to their roots they should have figured out a way to drastically increase the tech, performance, and handling while reducing the cost of their bikes. Say what you will about the company but dealer network and community is second to none.

I'm going to pick up a Street Glide as a second bike eventually so I can take cross country trips. But you can find them for around 12-15k in good condition so its not too bad. I'd never buy a brand new one.

Actually bishes love guys that ride. Definitely a panty wetter.
give me a R6 over a Harley any day.

Women don't like motorcycle riders lol. They don't even look in your direction.

That said, I can't wait to get a R6

This couldn't be more false.

I've had several sloots ask for rides on my sport bikes in years past. Many women really do like men that ride.

Largely this. I've never met a quality woman that was in to guys with motorcycles. The women are almost always tattoo'd lifetime bartenders. Bottom of the barrel.

Canary in a coal mine. Entire auto industry is gonna be plagued by this similar story. Now that millennials make up majority or will very soon expect a lot of spending on high priced items to tank. Most millennials can barely afford to live in their parents house let alone have their own transportation. Expect all the major auto makers to tighten their product line to only the best selling in the years to come to try and combat this. Only it'll be too late by then and auto makers will capitulate due to the low demands as the global economy continues the downward trend and most people not just millennials will be skipping on the new auto purchase.

Harley's will always be cool but not really from the factory. They make the money most off their baggers which most millennial's rightfully regard as being lame. They all look basically the same. Practical, sure. Comfortable, probably. But **** baggers.

A sporty with extended fork tubes can look pretty cool but the ride is wonky as hell. The best Harley imo is a hard tailed pan head... that's not something you can just buy from the harley dealer. The coolest harley's are and forever will be custom jobs, and to build them this way requires some mechanical skills, tools, etc. Most millennials lack these things, they are just looking to sign the line and ride away. So with that in mind, there are better bikes that are cheaper.

I don't know a single software engineer that would seriously drive a motorcycle that's gonna be rare breed. I doubt that's a winning strategy for HD. Maybe the trade guys would be a good target?

I think the auto loan bubble will be next. Add the fact that if you look at HD's history, they've nearly gone bankrupt more than once.

I like the looks of some Harley's but you can get a similar looking bike without the name brand for half the price.

ill weigh in again:

have you ever worked on any bikes in your entire fkn life? no then stfu

I own a vintage motorcycle restoration shop and work on Japanese bikes/ Harleys/ Indians/ Chinese bikes/ British bikes. I can tell you Japanese bikes are made from cheap materials. People like Harley because it's a solid engine and the parts are well made you can rebuild a Harley engine 100 times and the metal is still good. You wont do that with a import engine, you throw it away. Harleys are made for low end torque not top end speed.

I do, but even still, a stripped down model with most money gone into recreating that cringey "faux-vintage" image would do well. Our demographic is all about image and perception of being unique. (some) STEM brahs, tradies and bartenders alike that are into the hipster-look would be falling over themselves if HD could bring this to fruition for 8 to 12 grand.

A large portions of millennials (and subsequent generations) are afraid to drive.....These generations will sooner or later kill off ALL motorcycle manufacturers not just Harleys.

You release a heavily vintage-inspired design. Strip it of nearly every creature comfort possible, slap a Harley logo on it, make Ryan Gosling the brand ambassador and sell the $1,000 bike for $10,000 msrp. You know how many idiots would go around bragging about their "vintage style'd Harley"? Jesus... make me VP. It's so simple.

Harley's are like the C4 corvette of motorcycles. Just lmao at acting like a hardass dressing like a pirate and riding around revving the chit out of your overpriced bike. Not to mention most of them drive like dikheads. Southpark nailed it. Only hillbillies and people having midlife crisis ride those chitboxes. Good riddance.

Fukking bullchit.

You telling me an 1800cc engine that pumps out 80hp is built better than a 1000cc engine that puts out 200hp?

Only in the fantasy world of Harley Davidson would this make any sense.

The japanese bikes are the most technologically advanced on the planet. There is a reason the Hayabusa engine is re-sourced for everything from smart cars to jet skis to airplanes.

The shocks harley puts on its bikes are garbage. The brakes are garbage. The electrical system is garbage. Nothing on it is any good. Just lipstick on a pig with the paint and chrome.

I am not a big fan of HD, but I do like sportsters. Its the only bike id entertain myself to buy used, (not new) I personally was given a broken down Harley (my mom gave it to me, she had cancer and gained a lot of weight and couldn't support herself on it anymore). Engine was seized up, everything was dead on it. Left in a garage for 10 years. I dropped 2k repainting/repairing/rebuilding the engine with upgraded internals too.

Painted it grabber blue from mustangs and blacked out powder coating. I really like how it turned out, everywhere I go people come over and ask me about it, and they know its custom. the Harley on tank isn't a sticker, its actual silver/white gold flake, and black spray on it done by hand. Ive had people ask to buy it, but it came from my mom and its sentimental, only has 7k miles on it. 2005. runs like a scolded dog, fun little weekend cruiser.

I like country backroads with it or town hopping short burst. The mustang aftermarket seat doesn't look as nice as the original, but man its like a lazy boy recliner.I kept the 2 up seat from 1st pic, girls come to my garage and 90% of the girl want a ride on Harley over the sport bike, odd to me but its a chic magnet in my area. Big Harley state.

-mom gave me broken down harley
-2k rebuild/improved it
