Watched the first episode of season 3 and thought it was fukking lame. Decided to wait and read reviews on threads like this and if good then binge it when it's over. I've read enough to know I won't ever be watching another episode.

One hit wonder of a show.

The best episodes of this season have been 3/5/6. The rest have been tedious. And even the good episodes don't come close to how good most of the episodes in season 1 were. Hopefully we get to the meat of the story by episode 7 and then have it conclude strongly.

It's definetly a slow burn. It started off pretty good and then slowed down in the last couple episodes. I really do hope they get all the answers in the end and don't do some open ending garbage.

It's missing the really nice sub layers of context of season1 like the "Notice King here" sign way before the reveal or baby killing girl being in the Tuttle school photo, and of course the Marty and Ruste chemistry... but its pretty good.

Even though the acting is top notch, Im not liking how this feels like the exact same thing as S1

Guess I was hoping for something more or Im completely wrong about how its going to end.

Season 1 is unbeatable already because of Harrelson and Mcconaughey. Also feel like the whole thing with two diferent timelines was alot more fluent, like both of them getting interviewed and recalling their memories and at some points the interview ends and it just switches to present time for the rest of the show. In season 3 not only they have three timelines but they kind of sporadically jump in between them which can become confusing. It can then become annoying to tell what happened when. Especially since you I can't really tell the diference between the 1980 and 1990 apperance of the actors.

Also the first season had this creepy/dark undertone that they tried to replicate here and it worked for like the first two episodes but then faded away. It also felt that in the first season it was steadily progressing as they were finding more and more cluess and people each episode until the final revelation but here it seems like they are getting nothing mostly so I am waiting for some big reveal at the end likely.

The problem with these long drawn out whodunit shows is that by episode 7 I really dont give a fuk anymore who did it. Season 1 did an awesome job of not getting stuck in that lull and kept the story moving with false leads and action and tbh titties helped. This season is just a whole lot of nothingburger with a "big" reveal. Random plotline of Hayes son banging the director. It doesnt add anything and its just wasted time on a show that's already suffering from extreme pacing issues. Weve had 6 hours of buildup so we can get 30 minutes of an anticlimactic "it was him the whole time" moment.

The alienist suffered from this too as well as most of these whodunit shows. Theres far too much buildup and too much unnecessary character development.

agreed with this season 1 had that constant tension that would keep you glued this season does not it started out really promising but I already started to get bored 2 episodes ago.

I think the acting is top notch.

But I agree with others.

This season with so many damn timelines is trying to mask what we saw in season 1.

Introduce the bad guy in small glimpse two episodes in. When they went to interview plant owner mother was working at.

Lets wait till last 2 episodes to reveal him.

That guy with one eye that yelled at Amelia at book signing

It seems pretty obvious he was paid to kidnap the kids by Harris.

Also is it possible tom and rolland had a thing? rolland is giving the gay vibes.
