I forgot what I recommended before but since you’re still not over her...

If you’re willing to compromise and have ONE baby with her then I’d say date her again, make your intentions clear, assuming she’s done with this Russian guy. Go after what you want. Being passive is a female trait. Men are aggressive in career so why will you tremble in fear when it comes to women? Wait until she’s emotionally stable from this breakup and then go for it.

Females that don’t want children will eventually want one once they hit 30-40 they all start catching baby fever. The ones who truly don’t want kids are either coping hard/mentally unstable/career driven (too busy)...which idk if they’re your type anyways.

How did you goof this up? You didn’t want to marry/have kids, and she did. It was only a matter of time before she got fed up and left.. which is exactly what she did.

I was in this exact same position.. was with a girl for 3.5 years that I didnt want to marry but she did. All you can do is

1. Give in and marry her (I don’t know about you, but I was dead set against this so for me this wasn’t an option) or
2. Ride the relationship as long as you can till she gets fed up and leaves (ultimately this is what I did) or
3. Leave and find someone who’s long term goals are more in line with yours.. which is difficult these days but getting easier to find.

If you chose to stay the longer you remain the harder it will be for you to get over it.

Don’t be forced into marriage/kids unless that’s what you want.. otherwise you will end up having a very unhappy marriage. And personally, I would never seriously take back a woman after she left me for another man no matter what the reason - other than to smash her some more before dipping.

4. Why not just be honest with her & let her know you didn't want to marry her instead of wasting her time?

"Never give up on something you can't go for a day without thinking about"

Not sure how true that is, but I think it applies here.
Are you still in touch with her?

I see.. so I'm assuming you didn't like something about her personality and you were riding it out to see if it might change & it didn't?

Exactly.

Contrary to my hopes, the longer we dated the more I didn’t want to marry her.

It was a tough breakup, but necessary for me to move on. She’s now turning 30 and has no bf/no marriage prospects anyway.

Bullet dodged for me. For her.. the chances of marriage and having kids are rapidly declining. Very few women in this 20s millennial generation are fit for marriage - they just have no idea what it takes.

Ex is a pretty girl probably thought she was better off taking her chances (GIGS). Reality is a cruel teacher.

So I had an amazing relationship with a girl, and for three years it was perfect. The honeymoon phase went on for years. She was completely dedicated to me. The only problem was that she wanted to get married and have kids, and I didn't. I mentioned my feelings a few times, but we usually didn't talk about it and just enjoyed each other's company. We never fought and almost never argued.

Things started to sour in the fourth year, and she became more and more distant. Yet she rarely talked about her feelings. I couldn't seem to fix things. Then, after she graduated from college, she decided to study abroad for a year and get her Masters. I was very surprised by her decision. Due to the circumstances, we decided to go on a break, create a little space, casually date other people, and then get back together when she returned. You can see where this is going. Well, instead she met some Russian cuck that worshiped the ground she walked on. He was ready to marry her on day one. In fact, he was already divorced and had 2 kids back in Russia. She casually dated him for a year, delaying her return to the US because she had a teaching job there and she was busy applying to grad schools for her PhD. She always insisted that her relationship with this guy wasn't serious, and she was still affectionate to me.

To make a long story short, she finally came home for Christmas after 1.5 years of being my lovey-dovey best friend. But then, out of the blue, she refused to talk to me or see me. Finally allowed me one phone call and said it was over, she was marrying the Russian guy, and we were done. She insisted the decision was final, and she couldn't talk to me anymore. Completely blindsided me. Afterwards, I told her I needed to talk about things more, but she ignored all my calls and messages.

So I ended up losing the love of my life. Once the initial shock settled and the crippling realization set in, I freaked out and tried to propose. I told her she meant everything to me, that we could get married and work out all our problems. And I meant it. But that only seemed to make her angrier and she has blocked me on all social media since.

In the end, I am absolutely devastated, and losing her made me realize how much I truly did love her. It is the biggest kick in the balls one can imagine. I am completely filled with regret. I feel like I let "The One" get away. Yet I didn't actually want to marry and have kids. I was willing to make the sacrifice in the end, but I still felt unsure about signing my life away to fatherhood. On the other hand, given the choice of losing her forever or compromising, I was more than willing to compromise. But sadly, it was too little, too late.

So Misc, did I dun goof, or did I dodge a bullet in the end?

Ex is the same way. And I handled the situation the same as you. Very violent break up, but now apparently all she posts on FB are relationship/dating quotes and sharing country music videos about love and chit. I just LOL.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.

With Chadimir, I'm not sure exactly what happened yet. But they stopped communicating for a while, unfriended each other, and now she's back in the US.

Finally, to answer your last question, it's pretty simple. Years of reading Calvin & Hobbes in my youth prepared me for this line of work

It's over, move on.

For future relationships, only date girls that share your view on children, that is a huge part of life and no relationship will end well if your not on the same page with it. No compromise.
This is a common view around here, but one I disagree with. I understand the logic, and it might be more true if people were rigid and didn't change. But people do change and sometimes you have to give things a chance. I'm still not sure about kids, but I'm already thinking much different than I was a few years ago. That may continue to change over time. She wasn't going to wait around, which is why she left. But now we may be in a position to reconnect and reassess our life goals to see if they've grown to be more compatible.

Regardless, even if we never speak again, the time I spent with her were the best years of my life, and I don't regret them one bit. I also learned a lot and grew as a person, especially after the breakup. If it's over forever, so be it, but I'm also willing to try again, if she is.

I did read the whole thing, it captured my interest. I am a sucker for drama.

I see, thanks for the clarification!

As a fellow internet stalker, I can appreciate the dedication you sometimes need to get all the details especially with those fangled privacy settings.

Can’t comment on your situation, but I hope you get whatever you need to find peace.

I used to take malicious joy at any misfortune that befell my ex but moving on and finding someone better brought a calm contentment, which I am much happier with.

Good luck OP!

You’ll get over this. My ex was saying the same thing to me when we broke up about regrets and how what if I am the one blah blah all rubbish. Soon after he found a new girl and everything we had is nothing but history. Which also gave me the clarity that there’s no such thing as the one. We have hundreds if not thousands of soulmates.

You’re only desperate right now because you don’t have another option. Calm down.
I did explore my other options for a while and none of them could hold my interest. Nothing lasted longer than a month or two. That only reinforced my feelings that I let the one get away.

I do plan on going for it! But like you said, she's probably still recovering from the latest breakup and is not emotionally stable. She's unblocked me from some of her social media but has not reached out or responded either. I don't know if that's a signal of continued hostility or if she's just not ready. I guess I'll just give her some more space and we'll see what happens from here.

I used to think a lot like you, which is why I ended up letting her go. That's the rational way of thinking about it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't seem like a very emotional person. Everything seems pretty black and white, cut and dry with you. In regards to your options:

1.) I was fairly anti-marriage (although I never completely discounted it), but I was dead set against kids. So marriage was an option but not a realistic one for her without the family. That being said, we rarely talked about it. She knew how I felt, got fed up, and then just slowly backed out the door.
2.) That's also what I did
3.) That was never going to happen, because she was too good of a girl to let go ... and as you said, very difficult to do anyways in today's dating scene

Honestly man, I used to have the same exact mindset as you. I've had plenty of breakups and I moved on, because the relationship had run its course. In fact, I was so used to that process that I expected to do the same with this girl. It was almost like wash, rinse, repeat at this point. You date for a while, honeymoon phase ends, you drift apart, and then go your separate ways. That's what I expected going in, whether it was consciously or subconsciously. If you don't want to get married, there is no other way, unless your gf feels the same exact way as you.

I guess it just takes one girl to change all that. I concentrated more on life goals and rationality than love. As men, that's what we like to do. Use reason and logic. But there was just one problem. After she left, I realized that she was actually the one I actually wanted to spend the rest of my life with. She was my best friend in the world. I knew it when it happened, and after screwing around for a few years without her, I know it even more now. She was a lot younger than me and she still has about 5 years of grad school. We would've likely been together more than a decade before we considered having kids. And at the point, we would've known if we were ready. Sure, there would've been chance that it all fell apart after that, but there's a risk in everything you do. Instead, I risked losing her and then I did. That's something I'll have to live with for the rest of my life.

In regards to taking her back, I fukked up MORE than enough to lead to this current situation. So I'm perfectly willing to just wipe the slate clean and have a fresh start for both of us. Start from square one. If she ever betrayed my trust again though (or vice versa), that would obviously be game over though

Although she unblocked me on social media, she is still unresponsive. I followed her on Instagram and dropped her a note, but neither were reciprocated. I'm not sure how to take it. It's possible that she's still recovering from the breakup, re-acclimating to her new home, etc. Also, things ended so ugly the last time that she may be hesitant to reconnect, maybe it will reopen old wounds for her.

Or maybe she just straight up has no intent on speaking to me again.

Guess it's back to playing the waiting game

And to be fair, we sure as hell were never having 3 kids. She offered multiple times to "compromise" on one kid. I would usually change the subject.

You need time to grieve over her, and also practice radical acceptance that the relationship is over. She is no longer your soul mate. It sounds like you refuse to go through the grieving process and just continue to obsess about her, which isn't healthy for you. You also end up wasting your youth.

Leave her be and don't message her anymore or stalk her, if she messages you then go from there. It's clear you had different views on the relationship than she did, if you want the opposite to what she wants then you just ain't meant to be together. If you would of done it her way then you would of ended up miserable in the long run with a kid you don't want and a divorce losing half your chit to her, if she would of took you back when you acted beta and begged for her and told her u wanted all of that then it would of been the biggest mistake of your life.

Damn, I hadn't seen this thread but ended up reading through most of it. Over a year later and you still believe this girl is the one....that is either complete insanity or perhaps a sign she really is. A year of pain and torture but step 1 is complete...the Ruski is out of the picture it seems. Interested to see what happens next OP. As someone who also messed up with a girl that ticked the majority of my boxes, I'm rooting for you.
There is but one path....we kill them all.

lol OP bumped this thread, still claiming hes over his ex

Its ok op, you didnt miss out on anything, chadimir thundercock stretched her out permanently so your little willy wouldnt be able to feel anything anyways, shes going to have to go for BBC only from now on.

Does it make you mad that your dream girl, the love of your live, was just another notch on the bedpost of chadimir thundercock and now he is going on to slay fresh new puss after he stretched out your soulmate and ruined her vagina for life?

I see, thanks for the clarification!

As a fellow internet stalker, I can appreciate the dedication you sometimes need to get all the details especially with those fangled privacy settings.

Can’t comment on your situation, but I hope you get whatever you need to find peace.

I used to take malicious joy at any misfortune that befell my ex but moving on and finding someone better brought a calm contentment, which I am much happier with.

Good luck OP!
Nice, well I guess there's plenty of drama in this slobberknocker of a thread, including the regular misc autists arguing with each other. And we also have Russian boxers and premature ejaculating rockets. Thanks for reading!

Oh damn, you too? Internet stalkers unite! It's not an easy job, but somebody's gotta do it. Those damn privacy settings can indeed be a bear, but hey... where there's a will, there's a way. Including hijacking mutual friend's social media accounts... *whistles innocently*

Now wait just a darn second. You read all 19 pages of this thread, and you STILL can't comment on my situation? Sheesh. What more do you need to know? My astrological sign and blood type? A little female perspective is always appreciated.

Uh oh. Now you gotta tell us the story about your ex. The misc is here for you.

Glad you've found contentment and hopefully happiness as well, though - I hope to say the same some day. Either that, or I'll just keep bumping this thread.

This is somewhat accurate. I never believed her when she told me Chadimir was her soul mate and I knew he wasn't right for her. Since I didn't believe any of that, I waited for it to fall apart, and it did. Of course, if she still refuses to talk to me, it's a moot point. But I at least feel somewhat vindicated there.

Well I gotta tell you man, it hasn't been healthy in some ways. But it has been in others. It's allowed me to go through a self-improvement process that needed to happen, or else I was going to mess up the next one.

For one, I'm hitting the gym and getting in the best shape of my life. But I've also made improvements to how I treat other people. Point blank, I was a very selfish person while I was with my ex. Sure, I said and did nice things for her sometimes. It wasn't all bad. But overall, I was just a very self-absorbed person - and not just to her, to everybody. I was always looking out for #1. I wasn't particularly thoughtful and I did a lot of stupid stuff. And, as we've found out, I was also internally weak.

So thankfully I've taken this time to learn how to be more generous and more thoughtful to the important people in my life. My family, my friends, even acquaintances who I barely know. I've also been working my ass off in the gym. Getting physically strong will help me get mentally strong. In many ways, I feel like a changed person, which is why I would love to start again with her and let her experience the "new me." But if not her, then I'll be ready for the next girl.

The obsessing part, though... the obsessing. That is not healthy. Hopefully it will be over soon.

Hmm, I don't remember. Ask ChelshireCat.

So have you tried to reach out to her? Normally I’d say move on, but I do admit sometimes when you break up with someone and have time to yourself you can realize your mistakes that you couldn’t see while in the relationship.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.
