Brb loses 2-3k value as soon as you drive off the lot

Brb “but my warranty” (lol)
Brb need to have full coverage insurance (no option)

Renting in some instances is more profitable than buying

for exmaple

in U.K an apartment in Kensington cost ~ 1.2 million GBP

rent is about 10k Per month

if you put 1.2 million in your bank account you can recope the rent money easily and that includes all maintenance etc etc

While true, it;s bad idea to finance a payment you cant afford- it seems you've never heard of gap insurance.

17k left on a loan financed a 30k suv. Paid off my last one no issues.

Long hair don't care. I like having a sick suv. And it takes me camping and offroading every summer so is pretty essential to my hobbies and lifestyle.

I love when people that make average or below income equate what makes sense for them to make sense for everyone. I make around 200k per year, so for me I finance a bmw i8 and put a lot down, a $1,000/mo payment doesn’t matter as much for me.

Your right but the vast majority of people don't finance because the % is less than their portfolio return they do it because they live paycheck to paycheck

False. They will pay you the market value of your vehicle (pre-collision). You'll only get shafted if you're underwater on your loan, otherwise you'll likely get more than you owe.

Amazing how many people on this site make over 200k. Also I'd say buying a 150k car on that salary isn't the greatest financial decision but that's up to you.

The median savings account in the US is 5200 bucks. Mean is 33k but that's skewed by people like our pal, ManlyMan. Most people can't afford to drop 12k on a used honda or whatever. Even if they can, I think it's pretty dumb to blow your savings to avoid paying a little interest if you have a good credit score. If you have a ton of money saved up and just want something that runs, then sure, that would be more beneficial.

Leasing can be extremely useful, too. If you drive cars for three years then trade them in you're going to be upside down(owe more than the car is worth) more often then not, so with leasing you get to turn the car in once the payments are made regardless of how much it's worth when you're done.
