I think a lot of miscers are not fully grasping the implications here.

Restricting access to porn for minors is a good thing. However, like other pointed out - how effective it's going to be is debatable to say least.

Now, if we forget about the moral implications of this and and focus on what is it going to cost to implement a country wide "firewall" for pron sites and what is it going to cost to keep it running. Don't forgot that the tax payers are the ones paying for it.

Number two, having a credit card or an ID to register creates a huge and I mean huge data privacy concern. Let's be real most men watch pron. maybe not some degenerate one, but I'd say 99% of male adults age 16-50 do watch it at least on a weekly basis. So, if I want to do it lawfully according to the new rules I would need to submit my ID and/or credit card - that's an issue for two reasons a) I dont want my wife/gf/parents/siblings finding out I watch pron b) I dont want my information to be accessible to pron sites (remember AshleyMadison) and c) I dont want my information to be stolen by some blackhat hackers. And trust me, pron sites will be main target of attach for data mining for hackers now that they know and bunch of people leave their info there

Then you have the issue with the govn control or "nanny state" or whatever you want to call it. Sure, blocking pron is prob for the better of younger population of the nation but how you know they are not going to block google once google decides not to pay taxes in UK. Or block ******** for some data leak or 4chan for some right wing racism or political propaganda
