I registered in 2013 or so I believe, so I was early 20's. I didn't start posting regularly or reading regularly until the last 2 or so years. I can't imagine, someone in their late teens reading and posting here and being influenced by everything that is posted. Insecurity leads to vulnerability which leads to people accepting what they are told because they don't know any better.
Its a fun place to post and read, but you are absolutely correct.

Those posters are addicted to the cycle of abuse/validation they receive here. Some of the absolute worst posters are constantly referred to as if they are worthy of admiration - and by 'worst posters' I mean chit posters who deliberately and almost singularly seek to spread their negative view of the world here.
It's fundamentally pathetic but what can you do - the Internet and anonymous posting has enabled a lot of this. The kind of poster I refer to here is likely shunned by rational human beings in the real world so...that just reinforces their posting here and in other communities where (somehow, perversely) that sort of behavior is welcomed.

Today's man is becoming more and more insecure. It's so scary to talk to the young man of today and just hear what is on their mind and how they view life. Estrogen levels are at an all time high, men are emotional like women, overtaken by mood swings, insecurity, loneliness, and low self worth with no drive to become better. We see mental illness, suicide, depression reaching highs, and that's no shock being how this next generation of man is choosing to live their lives.
I've always wondered why the misc attracted so many of the internet's "losers" though, I mean it's a bodybuilding forum, my initial though would be it to be a place where people together enough for self improvement to gather.... but over the years I think it's more a place for people looking to improve their physical body to overcome other issues, and lets be honest, many posters have come here and done nothing or very little to even better their body.
I've always wondered why the misc attracted so many of the internet's "losers" though, I mean it's a bodybuilding forum, my initial though would be it to be a place where people together enough for self improvement to gather.... but over the years I think it's more a place for people looking to improve their physical body to overcome other issues, and lets be honest, many posters have come here and done nothing or very little to even better their body.
