He’s very clearly not right that almost nobody liked them. That’s like saying almost nobody likes Nickelback. Queen (again, they have never been one of my favorites and I have no idea why I’m caught up here commenting on them) had songs and albums go #1 and several others go top 10. It would surprise me if that fox song happened to have gone #1 and it would further surprise me if that same band was able to do that a few times as well as put out several other top tens. My whole point is that if nobody liked them, they wouldn’t have achieved the chart success that they did.

I have never in my life met a person who like a Queen ALBUM. I have never heard a Queen album and I'm a huge music fan.

People liked their singles and that's a top 40 band, not a rock band.

The only person I know who had a Queer album was my 11yo female cousin. Yes they were popular. With kids and old ladies. Not so much in the rock and roll community. They weren't really a rock band.

What's worse than a band with an overrated frontman is one of these made up bands where there isn't a frontman and they all take turns basically. Boy bands are usually like this. Eventually one takes the lead and then the band splits up because the beta members get cucked. NSync and Backstreet boys are two that come to mind.

Agreed. Everything must be done to be sure he stays safe and healthy. Airforce 1, secret service, the whole damn Marine Corps to be deployed if necessary.

That’s fine, I am not saying that they were a strong rock band (I think I’ve basically admitted here that I’m not even really a Queen fan). What I’m trying to mention here, because of the theme of this thread, is that Mercury was good. Further, they packed stadiums and bands that nobody likes/listens to don’t do that well.

Overrated threads are the worst. FYI personally not liking thier music does not make someone overrated. I cant stand Queen but to say that Mecury was overrated is insane, dude had an incredible amount of talent.

That's a good point. If you don't listen to albums from cover to cover then you don't deserve an opinion on music.

This of course is the ultimate truth.

However, I don't believe that most music lovers even consider these to be bands. Top 40 music is usually made up of "acts" created by a company.

Most top 40s acts don't write their own songs, don't have a history where they started out playing in some town, and so forth. They're more like products than bands.

Real bands are composed of artists who started out small and worked their way up.

I remember when Rage first came out.

Everyone thought Zach was a black dude, seemed to be singing about the black experience a lot, he looked black, and sang about all of this revolution stuff, and it was all fake.

He put a lot into singing, but he's a poseur to the extreme.

Meanwhile, someone like Eddie Vedder wrote a lot about things that were real for him. Not as much energy, but a real dude being himself.

I agree with this one.

Tom lost his voice many years ago, that's why he started researching aliens and UFO's and chit ... he couldn't handle touring. I've seen Blink TWICE, once at the rodeo and once at an outdoor venue. Both times without Tom, and they're better off tbh.

In the studio, it's all processing/effects auto-tuning magic, that's why they sold so many records and became a household name - not because of their lead singer in a live performance setting. Mark Hoppus has always been a better singer than him, but he never was appreciated like that until later. The most talented person in the band has always been Travis Barker, as most drummers usually are lol.

I thought No Doubt was great. They had albums where nearly every song was well written.

I thought she was some kind of genius, then I found out her brother wrote most of the songs.

When she went solo she made mostly vacuous pop black music and she sucked. I was very disappointed.
