No offense rock fans but these debates always make me LOL hard.

For every person saying (x) band/guitarist is the GOAT, there's another rock fan saying they are literally trash. Just lol.

I would say Bono. Despite doing all that charity stuff dude is mostly a comedy act nowadays.

Fred Durst is pretty hated as well.

The dude from Imagine dragons also seems out of place on a stage.

The Green Day guy is a little uncharismatic as well.

This dude was more an intentional parody of what a front man should be:

Agreed. He can’t sing in tune to save his life. He would be nowhere without his band mates whereas the others - especially Flea and Chad - would be perfectly fine and successful no matter what.

The Chilli Peppers started as a punk band and part of that style is to not be able to sing or even play well.

They aren't great.

They're another group that had "hits" that were good but not albums of songs.

Plus, his voice could be grating.

It's fun.

Plus, rock music is the ONLY style that has many types of sounds.

Rap all sounds the same like the guys have a head cold, and the lyrics suck and are always about the same thing. Country is much like rap, and rock is the only constantly original stuff.

It's fun to talk about.

I have a hard time liking Jesse Leach since he returned to Killswitch Engage. There first album was great, but when Howard Jones took over it just felt powerful. Since Jess has been back...eh......

I know ZERO Queen albums. I have never had a friend suggest one.

I used to have my own radio show in the 80s, and still know nothing.

ITT a bunch of people who don't understand the role of a front man.

You can have a distinctive sound, stage presence/crowd control or musical skill. Pick two.

Stephen Tyler and David Lee Roth are terrible musicians but have distinctive voices and amazing stage presence. Kurt Cobain had distinctive sound and he was a very skilled musician (which a lot of people don't know). Anthony Kiedis established ska punk sounds (he wrote all of their early lyrics) and had great energy but couldn't do anything else. Axl had a distinctive sound and put on a good show by being a dick. Etc, etc.

Freddie Mercury had all three, which made him among the GOATs.

Wow, strong lack of Queen knowledge. I hate to break it to you, but you can't adequately analyze Queen without listening to their full-length albums, front to back. Sure, they have many great singles, but their brilliance is in the album and song arrangements. Also, I'm quite sure that America boycotting Queen in the early 80s while they were the biggest band in the world everywhere else. That may be why there is less of a Queen fan base in America. On topic, though, Kurt Cobain is way overrated. Other grunge bands such as Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and even Everclear are far superior to Nirvana. Speaking of Van Halen, Diamond Dave may have had a greater personality and stage presence, but Hagar brought much greater musical talent to the band. I think that the Van Hagar sound is far superior.

I was alive in the 80s and everyone knew their singles, We are the champions, was played at like every football game. But no one was INTO them, like The Doors, Zeppelin, The Stones, and bands like that. That's because those bands made albums where many songs were very good and worth listening too.

Queen made repetitive radio songs that were fun but not meaningful. Flash Gordon was heinous and the song from Highlander was better, but that's not awesome music.

Under Pressure, not sure if Mercury or Bowie wrote that but that was an amazing song that influenced me a lot as it's my life's work to help poor people.

Appetite is a great album start to finish.

I'm a 90s alt rock kid so here's my short list of albums where I can listen to and enjoy every song:

Pearl Jam Ten
Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
Green Day Dookie
Alanis Morisette Jagged Little Pill (don't judge, it's a great album)
Hole Live Through This
Nevermind obviously
Radiohead The Bends
Alice in Chains Jar of Flies

I actually front a Green Day tribute band and it's a blast every time we play.
