The problem with adapting is that the market is always changing.

Ie you go to school for one thing thats in demand only for a market shift that makes that skills unnecessary or drastically less worthwhile.

But yes. Ideally you continue to sharpen and grow your skills throughout life. Thats why I love being an electrician. No expensive degrees, only $200-500 certs that can net me several grand extra a year.

No debt here in toronto, own a car, low expenses. Need 20% down on a home (or else you get fuked with other high fees). Too bad my salary / commission of 80k won't help me get a starting house for 1 million

If you are in toronto, Vancouver, New York or maybe LA I understand you are fuked no matter what. Anywhere else, especially in the states is no excuse to own a home

It's the systems fault. We need a better education system and the government should take control of that not rely of some private business that charges 80k for a worthless degree.

Highschool should be reworked completely. You should leave free schooling with some type of skill instead of preparing you for university.

few years later, my colleagues have bach/masters and debt up the wazoo despite the fact that we earn the same, and I only owe about $1,500 in student loan. LOL

Millenials and gen Z need to take some accountability for their own actions. No one put a gun to your head and told you to go to an expensive out of state school for 6 years to finish a bachelors degree in something that wont get you a job.

I just finished(2015) my second degree and already paid of the student loans while continuing to own a house. Because I picked a reasonable priced school and a good degree, and I didnt party and take over half a decade to finish a four year degree.

I literally worked a summer pool job to pay for community college in cash....

So actually student loan debt IS a choice.

not surprising, alot of the millenials were pushed by their parents to get a post-secondary degree, tuition over the past 30 years really had gone up tremendously. Housing prices are literally 3x-4x the price in 25 years.

Parents bought a house in 1996 for 150K, BRB same house in 2019 with few renos is not 610K. BRB salaries haven't increased to match this.

Not to mention alot of bad decisions made by millennial and the inability to adapt. But unlike back then you had room to fuk up and you could probably raise a family off of Wal-Mart money lmao.
