You can probably blame the media for spinning Larson’s comment that way to rile up men and garner attention. The reaction is crazy, but it’s completely confined to the Internet. I hope this is some low-effort trolling, especially when you compared her to Tony, who actually had to work for everything he achieved, and faced a ton of struggle. And actually had a character arc, where he left behind the billionaire playboy idgaf act after getting smoked by his own weapons and watching people around him die. And so on.

The movie is the cinematic version of an idiotic fanfiction where the teenage "author" comes up with a self-insert character who is flawless, super speshul, all powerful, is liked by everyone and is somehow connected to everything that happens. They made 20 fuking movies without ever mentioning her, then "introduce" her in a post-credit scene in IW and state that "oh btw, she's the most powerful Avenger ever (also the sole reason the Avengers are called the Avengers), stay tuned".

The single fuking reason that they could pull this off is because of everyone and everything else. Whole premise, character and story are pure trash.

And no, not because of the gender or the actress, the same would apply if Marvel was a macho manly dude, or a ghey muslim transformer or whatever. It's simply lame.

Nope. Solid 2/10. Why? Because it's a fuking disappointment. For an MCU movie, it should have been better. They could have done it Memento style. It could have had a lot more subtlety and mystery. Or they could have started it with her as a human rather than her in the Kree homeworld. They should have left that refugee chit out to make way for a secret invasion narrative. They should have had her be vulnerable and weak, but overcome those things. They should have demonstrated she was a hero before she ever got her powers. Captain America 1 did a great job developing his character at least. The action dragged on and the movie went longer than it needed to, but I feel like if they had done a similar kind of introduction of her character, it would have been much better. We should have seen her overcome adversity as a young girl, join up with the military, go through training, etc. They could have spent a lot more time on this, whether through flashbacks or through a direct narrative. They didn't do it well at all IMO. I just didn't give a fuk about her, and she became a superhero way too fast. Like all female characters, she tended to be perfect and flawless from the get go because every female hero is a fuking god damn Mary Sue. The bad guy was also not interesting at all. He was just a generic white nationalist. OFC. Fuk this movie.

Why do you all keep responding to one of the worst posters on the misc srs? Dude averages 20 posts a day of nothing but crying about women.

Movie was a lot better than I expected. Not to say it was great, it was middle of the road for me as far as Marvel movies goes. Liked it more than Black Panther, but no where near as good as Infinity War, Iron Man 1, Avengers, GOTG, CA 2 and 3.

My only problem with the girl power chit, funnily enough, is that they didn't do anything with it. You get like 2 scenes of "you're a girl tho" and there is absolutely no pay off. They needed to have a villain or side character mocking her gender for there to be any pay off when the "I'm Just a Girl" song started playing. She didn't face any misogyny in the actual main story line, just a little bit in a couple of flash backs. The enemies she fights not only have no problem with women (they even trained her), they don't have problems with other races either. It which takes all the wind out of the entire female power theme.

I liked Brie Larson more or less, but the plot didn't give her much to work with. She's essentially already Captain Marvel when we meet her, so we just spend the whole moving waiting for the plot to catch up with what we already know. Her character has absolutely no real arc, or growth, outside of "oh, now I remember!"

She was a little Mary Sue'ish to be fair. She didn't really have any struggles, loss, or difficulties in the movie. Just BAMF'd her way out of everything pretty much every situation.

Other than that, it's a standard Marvel movie. Still better than anything DC has put out (I haven't seen Aquaman), though to be fair, if Wonder Woman didn't completely chit the bed in the third act, it would have been the better movie.

So yeah, I place it in the middle tier of marvel movies, with films like Black Panther, Dr. Strange, and Antman.



P.S. I don't understand the complaints about her being OP tho. She didn't show any real feats that I wouldn't expect Thor to be able to do, except for the very ending scene of her leaving with the ship at FTL.

Not interested in debating your political stance. I don't know you, and Idgaf about you. I pointed out the problems with the movie. Other posters have voices the exact same criticisms. It's clear there were issues with the movie. It is by no means a hit. If the best liberal critics can do for it, in spite of its agenda, is offer lukewarm praise for it, it's a sign that it is probably a fuking flop. This movie is going to be remembered with Iron Man 3 -- that is to say, it will be a forgotten pile of horsechit.

Of course there are some feminism points in the movie - 2 female pilots and a female assassin. But i dont think it was overboard.

I watched it and enjoyed it. Typical 9/10 entertainment, 9/10 CGI, story 3/10 Marvel movie.

I liked that she was hotheaded. Both her and Tony are alike some other person said.

Having said that, i dont think it was any worse than Black Panther. Black Panther cleaning up the Oscars is some bullchit sjw crap.

They are both entertaining action flicks with limited story. They both met my expectations and i enjoyed them for WHAT they are.

I'm pretty sure everyone ITT is agreeing on the issues with the movie. I'm also pretty sure that you and that other unfukable incel are the only people ITT who are getting their panties in a bunch over that movie. The rest of us rolled our eyes at a couple of the scenes and moved on with our life.

What monopoly? If you don't like what RT is doing you can set up your own movie review site and let whoever you want to review films on there. Or you can choose from a myriad of other already existing sites that you don't think are censoring comments.
Disney. The monopoly I was referring to was Disney.

My point was that Disney is manipulating media sites to promote a positive portrayal of their subpar products. There was even a documented case of them attempting to stifle criticism from the LA Times. They are soon going to acquire Fox. It's disgusting. I'm fuking sick of these people, and I'm sick of cucks shilling for them.

OP shut the fuk up. I hate how everyone says "no one can stand seeing a strong independent woman", like we havent seen successful strong woman on the big screen.

Her acting is terrible, her fight scenes are terrible, her ass is terrible. Everything about her is terrible, it's as if she didnt even try during the movie at all. The movie was saved by all the supporting actors, but even then, it wasnt enough to make the movie enjoyable.
