I believe these texts pre-date when the evidence started piling against him. He was attacked January 29th and Chicago PD took in the brothers on Feb 13th for questioning. The request for the FBI to handle it was February 1st.

Absolutely. Media is jumping on any little thing and of course headlines will read a certain way. I read it the same way you did initially, but then dug in because my trust for all media is an all-time low.

Ive been hearing that a bunch of people get out of Crimes in Chicago cause the prosecution drops the ball or the dude gets off on a technicality, is there any truth to this

That's true, also, the victim doesn't show up, and even if the offender is found guilty, the judge usually gives them a slap on the wrist anyway.

With juveniles it's even worse, they can literally do anything they want till they turn 18.
