Neck training started giving me sleep apnea. I'd wake up in the middle of the night a couple times a week coughing a lot, gasping for air like I had been choking or something. I stopped directly training my neck and it went away.

If you train your shoulders and traps sufficiently then you should have a decent enough neck anyway.
Starting weight 130lbs
Current stats: 6"2, 210lbs.

The 8th and final rule: If this is your first night at Gym Club....... you have to squat.

hm, I apologize if you're being serious op, but there's something about the wording in your posts (the exaggerated expressiveness) that kinda comes off as trolling or perhaps you're just being tramatophobic especially since you started fear mongering about rhabdomyolysis whiplash and falling off of a bike.

I thought you were talking about doing neck bridges where you literally place the entire weight of your body on your neck, but you're talking about neck curls off the side of a bench? No. My dads friends are in their 60's and they all wrestled in highschool and traveled across the country wrestling in tournaments. They did neck bridges 6 days per week and they're still super fit running Ironman's and chit. Wrestlers have been doing the far more dangerous "neck bridge" for literally hundred years and there has been no epidemic or correlation of wrestlers dropping dead from CVA's/TIA's solely attributed to neck exercises.

IF everything you said is completely and 100% true, i'd like to know what artery it was because pretty much all the arteries in the neck are pretty damn vital for survival. I'd say it was more of a genetic fluke/luck of the draw and any number of things could have cause you to have that problem. What do you expect everyone to do? Avoid risks in life so we can all make it safely to death?

-eating bbq/burnt food causes cancer.
-eating foods high in calcium can cause kidney stones.
-eating too much shellfish and seafood can causes inflammatory arthritis (gout).
-drinking alcohol excessively can impair the liver.
-you can get mauled/killed by a wild animal if you go hiking in the woods.
-you can be driving and hit by a drunk driver.
-you can be walking across an intersection and get hit by a driver.
-drinking too much water causes hyperhydration and can kill you.
-you can drown in a riptide or die from a shark attack if you go in the ocean.
-you can swim in a lake, and die from ingesting a parasitic amobea that travels through the bbb and starts eating away at your brain.
-Hell, simply sitting in a chair too long can form clots in the leg which can travel up to the brain and cause a stroke.

the condition the op experienced (if he truly did experienced itspecificallyfrom neck training) is not common regardless.

rhabdomyolysis is more common than what happened to the op, and that can occur from simply lifting weights and being physically active in general.

misdiagnosis

So many young guys have no syptoms and just drop dead one day or become a vegetable through the stroke

Its the number one killer of young people ( stroke)

You can disect the artery in your neck through whiplash or simply falling of a bike .
Trauma is the number one killer of young people.
Your doctor doesn’t know if it was caused by neck training
I fly people with carotid dissections all the time and they all come from different backgrounds and experiences, I certainly have seen any that say the cause is “neck training.”
It’s likely genetic and possibly hypertension.
Are you very tall and thin?

You have 4 arteries in your neck mang and the old circle of silly (hopefully it’s fully communicating), it’s all good bro, you got this.

Most people hyperextend their necks while doing direct neck training without being aware of it. You are supposed to tuck in your chin as hard as you can to keep your spine neutral, like you would flex your core when doing deadlifts

I can’t believe you let stroke symptoms occur for so long before getting treatment that’s nothing you should mess around with. You definitely shouldn’t train neck anymore. but bro your erectile dysfunction is not related and also you are not in heart failure.
