Young people are having way less sex than previous generations, lowest in 60 years

Plenty of other sources on this and lots of other stats. But basically lowest in >60 years despite social media making it seem the opposite.

Thoughts? A lot of it seems to be tied to more single people than ever.

I think it's less 80/20 and more pockets of men (and maybe some women) feeling inadequate + having unrealistic standards from dating. I would guess that self-loathing is at an all time high.

Of course they are most people under age 30 are awkward and anti social and just look at their phones and play video games all day. Nobody knows how to interact face to face anymore. The matrix is happening right now.

For every guy who does well on tinder, there are like 10 who don't. Many guys delete it quickly afterwards or plug away dealing with bots etc.

There's a correlation(not causation) between having high iq and not participating in sex. Tesla is one famous example(for every tesla's that get noticed) there are thousands with tesla caliber intelligence that don't get noticed, and don't participate in sex. Look at how many people were talking to even on the misc that wouldnt happen without the internet.

Obviously that doesnt mean sex. But that means people are in connection with wayyyyyy more people than people from the 90's ever used to

Thats not even going to ********, tinder, instagram. Instead of having to go to the club or something. Brb just hop on tinder and cell phone. You can talk to people from all over the world in 2 seconds, whereas in the past thats not even close to doable. Not to mention we had way less of an idea of what was going on there

I want to know how they generated the #'s. Teen pregnancy being down could easily be the proliferation of birth control

Nah man tons of dudes are not ever getting laid now days. Literally 30% of men are incel. Attractive women might be having more sex that's it.

People seem slow and PC now compared to even several years ago. My office is the same way. Older people are still sharp socially for the most part but people under 30 are slow.

These are the kind of "missing pieces" articles you get when they are oblivious to the fact that you have millions of legal and illegal Hispanic immigrants (many from South and Central America) who still go to church and don't raise their kids to be studs and sloots. Many also dont believe in abortion and that's why that is down too. Media always says there are "11 million" illegals (a 2003 number) but its much more. Recent Yale/MIT study said 20-30 million but 40 million is probably more accurate (the 1986 amnesty was meant for 1.5 million but it became 4 million so official numbers are always skinny). I wouldn't doubt it. I don't know what Hispanic immigrants are going to college/uni. I'm mostly familiar with the South and Central Americans. My area in NY is flooded to the point that the schools are almost 75% immigrant kids now. The South Americans tend to not quite like Mexicans/Guatemalans (who abuse them on the way up) or even US blacks. In polls, more Hispanics can skew everything because they identify themselves as white. A lot of Americans lump the immigrants into one bin but there are notable differences. A lot of the Ecuadorean set-up businesses and don't even seem oriented toward college. Its still early on that sort of thing though

Is it really surprising that people are having less sex now than they were at the height of the sexual revolution? The 60s and 70s were a time of historic sexual liberalization

But I’d agree with the researchers suggesting this is probably mainly driven by people delaying marriage. In terms of raw numbers, hookup culture surely contributes little compared to committed relationships. Someone having prolific casual sex might bag ~100 hookups per year, most of them one-offs or short stints at best. People in committed relationships can bang multiple times a day every single day while in the early stages of a relationship. The sheer numbers aren’t even comparable

Lets see.. Imagine youre a hot chick nowadays. You make one profile on social media. You can get hundreds of dudes in an hour. Each girl prob has at least 3 social media profiles

Go back to the 60's. Youre a hot chick. What do you do? If youre popular in high school you have prob 20 girl friends you can do stuff with. But even that would take a concerted effort. Go to the mall? Go to a concert? All of those will pale in comparison to the internet

So, id say its surprising.

I could maybe see it in like, internet interaction is replacing real life interaction. But im still not buying it. The # of people people are put into contact with has to have increased by the thousands. And if youre suggesting sex doesnt come up more often, id say thats not true
