Honestly, without being a keyboard warrior, that would be a tough position to be in. My number one concern would be the safety of my wife if we were in that spot. Yeah I can attempt to charge him but then Id be risking both of our lives. Id be fine going down swinging if it were just me that would be shot/killed. But id be worried about him killing her too. Add having kids too, makes the decision that much tougher.

That said, Im not a potato who goes to sleep without locking the door and I keep a S&W between the mattress and the headboard while sleeping

To think. Taking 30-40 seconds before bed to check the doors could most likely have prevented this. Well, couple that with a $150.00 budget shotgun next to their bed...


It really is amazing what a 30 second pre-bed routine can do.

I hope this at least prompts the neighbours to beef up their security. If a some 20 year-old dumb crook can just get into your house without you knowing, you're doing something wrong. These people clearly didn't think that it would happen to them.

For armed home invasions, this actually didn't go too badly. At least the victims escaped the ordeal with their lives.

Two german shepherds are not going to sleep through someone coming into my home. They can't sleep through a door opening quietly as possible when I'm coming home late. Not a chance I don't wake up before the person would make it to my bedroom where I close the door and have a gun on my night stand.
