So you want to buy an AR15, post-Mueller Easter Sale Edition!
So you somehow haven't bought an AR15 after 2 years of the best gun market in recent memory?
Fear not, fellow miscer, because the Mueller Report dropping with no collusion and no obstruction means that the Trump Era of AR Deals continues!
Springfield Armory SAINT 5.56 AR 15, Range Bag, and a total of 6 PMAGs, $619:https://gunprime.com/product/springf...6-ar-15-rifle/

AMERICAN EAGLE 5.56MM 55GR FMJ AMMUNITION 150RDS, $39.99 (Free Shipping for 2 boxes!):https://palmettostatearmory.com/amer...m193bk150.html

Cheap ammo, quality rifle, peace of mind at home. Happy Easter!

Any RDS will be a great option for home defense. The key for making your decision should be partly driven by having an always on capability. This would lead me to consider the following options:
-Aimpoint T2
-Trijicon MRO
-Aimpoint PRO
-Aimpoint Comp M5
The reason the Comp M5 is so far down the list is because it is designed to do a job that is totally unnecessary for home defense. The Comp M5 is built to be a vehicle-mounted weapon optic, and to stand up to rollovers and war conditions associated with vehicles. If you're not going to be mounting it to a 240 on top of your MRAP, it's not something you need, and bears a high cost.
The Aimpoint T2 is the smallest, lightest RDS with a durable housing and 5 year battery life. It's expensive, but not absurd. You're paying for the performance to size ratio.
The Trijicon MRO is MUCH cheaper than the T2, has 5 year battery life, and is lightweight and small.
The Aimpoint PRO is about the same price as the MRO, has 5 year battery life, but is much larger.
I really like the Trijicon MRO in a Geissele Mount:

MRO Mount, $76:https://geissele.com/super-precision-mro-series.html
Trijicon MRO, $360:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...PMYMYZYSG&th=1

Is this a good quality, dependable and good for first time rifle owners? I was gonna PM you since you posted this in that home invasion thread.
I'm not a gun noob, just an AR noob. Also just closed on our home so I'd like an AR. Currently have a Winchester Shotgun and my wife carries a SW Shield 9mm.

that an average, new gun owner could buy and use for home defense or
target shooting and be happy with the trigger, features, and furniture
right out of the box. The barrel is a 1/8 twist, so it can stabilize
low-weight bullets (cheap bulk ammo) as well as higher weight bullets
(Match Ammo).

pressures that are too high for this.
These rifles are now VERY uncommon, and most rifles you see will have
5.56 NATO or .223 Wylde chambers, which will handle this ammo readily.
I believe that the M&P Sport (I & II) both have 5.56 chambers.

it will do everything you'd expect a rifle to do, dependably, and in a
configuration that's going to be a lot of fun to shoot. It's also
priced, really well (in this instance).

This is tempting, but I'm an AR newb.
If you order online, does the gun arrive at your home, or do you have to give the address of your local gun shop (FFL) and pick it up there? If so, what's the extra cost?
Have some 2nd amendment reps.
