Very much so...

The lines are blurred because people have so much incentive to lie.

I will say. My opinion of what is possible natty has changed this last 6 months. I have been stuck with the same body for the past 6 years. (See: avi. I could get leaner or bigger, but the lbm responded heavily in turn)

Then I finally had the cash flow to get on TRT. What was my natty limit for my natural levels is not even close to what it is at "High Normal". Given that "high normal" people exist naturally what I view as the max potential has shifted.

Though I will say almost everyone with a physique you look up to will be on TRT at a bare minimum.

With proper training they are not that far off.

Normal natural curve looks like "25-30" lbs lean body mass" first year. Half that the next. Half that the next. Half that the next.....

After 4 years of proper training you only really have 3-4 lbs left on the table. Then your natural hormones decline with age and it is all she wrote.

Steve Reeves is the natty limit. But not everyone has the genetic of Steve Reeves. So it'd vary each person.

Also the thing is don't be too uptight about the scale and measurement. The most important thing is how you look. A guy can weigh 160 lbs and look 180 lbs, if he has a good structure, small hips & joints but wide shoulders. On the other hand a guy can weigh 200 lbs and look 180 lbs because his joints are big and his hips are about as wide as his shoulders.

Source: I have been told by people I look heavier than I actually weigh.

After 6 years im still making good gains on bench tho and my jeans are still getting tighter.
I fukd around with recomp for the 1st 2 years tho and I reckon this held my gains back maybe

Very interesting. Yeah when you factor in upper end natty test levels along with good genetics, and proper training then you realise that the natty limit is probably actually a lot higher than you would think.

With proper training they are not that far off.

While this is technically true, the reality is that the average lifter often leaves a lot to be improved upon in terms of diet, training, and recovery, and so it does ring true that a surprising proportion of people are still capable of making small improvements 6+ years down the line.

I do agree though that after 4-6 years of proper training gains will be virtually non existent.

When I made the thread though I wasn't implying that there are no human limits (ie. there is virtually no chance of anyone achieving 6'2 240 7%) but was just poking fun at the fact that the lines are often a lot more blurred than we think.

It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

IMHO, if you TRULY had "clinical" body dysmorphic disorder, you would never believe you "have an above average physique." People who have this type of obsessive/compulsive disorder whole-heartedly believe they have some kind of "disfigurement," even when they appear completely normal (or above average) to others, in reality. It has to do with biochemistry and "wiring"....

diet is just eating it's not a magical component like people make it out to be unless you are not getting enough calories or something if you make it to 7+ years of lifting yourself you'll know the truth and most people in this thread haven't yet.

it's your body adapting to stress and you get there by continuously lifting heavier weights over time.

A cellular technologist once said 5'10" 165 is a stage ready natty limit, adding or subtracting 7 lbs for each inch in height.

To reiterate, thats stage ready, and natty.

There is a limit.

Take your natural body weight, add 20-30 pds of muscle. Anything more than that and your body's natural proportion goes out of wack.

Yep. A lot of big muscular 200+ lb dudes look fatter because of this too. They might be 10% bf but they look closer to 20%. Hulk Hogan and John Cena are good examples of that. I think everyone can agree Cena looked much better when he was like 24 compared to a few years ago.

Think of it like this Misc. You. understand that there are men out there who look so much better than you facially right? You would be a 1/10 next to them. Or a man who height mogs the **** outta you. Or someone that has a way bigger penor than you. In the same sense, there are people who have the potential to hit crazy aesthetic levels that you never will.

And you just have to accept it. Sometimes, you're not good enough. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

There is no limit. If you do things right with shocking your muscles you can keep building mass until the day you die.

Lmao don't blame natty limits on your stalling bench numbers. EOD is the dude who makes a lifting journal then goes to the gym once a week to do 3 sets or curls and pull ups and calls it a day. Imagine if either of you trained bench 3x a week and ate properly

Some posters mentioned individual hormonal and genetic-makeup, which no one can discount. And to me, age really is only a number, if you take care of yourself, are lucky and have a positive and undefeated attitude towards fitness goals and general well-being...

I only refer to limitations, in the sense that, as a natural 115 lb. woman, I know I will never be able to bench 300 lbs..lol...in any lifetime...That's what I mean by "everyone has their physical thresholds" they can't realistically cross...

I'd bet it's body dysmorphia. I've seen guys here say negative things about their physiques, then see a pic and I'm all like U Wot M8? You look great! lol

I disagree that body dysmorphia is thinking you have a disfigurement. Typically it presents as thinking you look heavier than you are, or prob for a lot of guys, smaller than they are.

I got to 202lbs at 7.7% bf and I was drinking alcohol every weekend and eating ****ty cafeteria food in college.

I used to laugh at the guys making natty claims of 220, but after actually getting kinda strong I feel like the natty limits these calculators estimate is pretty low

My biggest gains were by far in the first two years give or take. I've been as heavy as 198 lbs and as low as 160 lbs super lean. Given my own personal experience, I'd say there's no way in hell I could be 180 lbs and shredded without something drastically happening. My body just wasn't built to be big and muscular.

I know a few guys IRL around my height who are definitely natty and are more muscular. But those guys also have much bigger joints/bigger bones so it makes sense why they are more muscular. Bigger bones require more muscle by default. At least that's my broscience theory
Just look at people with huge forearms who have never lifted or done manual labor in their life. It's genetics man.
Kindness is all that matters in life
