They needed a quick way to wrap it up, to get to whatever they have planned for Kings Landing. Plotlines and pay-offs be damned.

And the biggest problem with this is that there's no reason Arya can't just sneak into King's Landing and kill Cersei now.

Best to stay away from forums / comment sections and so on. Avengers got partially spoiled for me in the comment section of House of Highlights instagram account ... welp

The show still has to follow some sort of internal logic even though it's a fantasy show. Dany has dragons which no one else has, and is apparently immune to fire. Had Arya been established as something special from the start, maybe it wouldn't feel so out of place. But the fact that she's some super assassin out of nowhere makes no sense. What stops any random dude from just joining the Faceless Men and do the same?

I agree nobody should beat him in 1 v 1. On that very same note Arya tricking the NK whose thousands of years old and probably has seen everything in his time is just as silly. The guy was able to see her sneak up on him, able to catch her mid flight but wasn't fast enough to avoid a sleight of hand trick lol.

Arya was definitely being built into something special until George had to hand the character over to the guy who wrote X-Men Origins Wolverine. They turned her into a Marvel character.

Arya literally had never evenseenan undead, let alone a white walker, and her arc has hadnothingto do with either of them the day before the battle. Any familiarity with death on her part is through trauma, her dropping out of the Faceless Men, but most of crucially her growing obsession with vengeance that threatened to overtake her.

No, Arya trained to poison people and whack them with a stick, neither skillset would actually be worth a damn in a siege by swarming undead who could just dogpile little Arya while she's busy fighting like a Sand Snake or, heaven forbid, trying to goad the Night King into eating a dragonglass pie.

She should have just fukked off to go kill Cersei because at this point she might as well steal Tyrion and/or Jaime's arcs, too, and we know Arya can just warp behind her with another edgy one liner.

Alt-Shift-Xput the upside down conclusion well: is our takeaway really boiled down to Arya's destructive path towards losing her humanity being agoodthing after all because it's "unexpected" and cool? This 90lb young girl has baked humans into a pie and fed them to their father, but her "consequences" are reduced to her being personally craned in from the ether as a literal deus ex machina to save the living world and undermine the stories of everyone around her?

I mean, Sam asked Dany to pardon him for stealing library books in effort to save the world; Arya straight up walked off with secret magics from a recondite, death-obsessed, assassination cult. Most of the "foreshadowing" is plain retconning old threads heading to completely different ends that were started beforeanyonewas chosen to kill the Night King, and the remainder are like pointing out how the majority of scenes in a sitcom take place in the same few locations.


Not only were JonandDany utterly worthless for the majority of the battle, down to Jon not even being able to light a bloody trench he's planted right next to, and trying to debate an undead dragon about the airspeed of an unladen Eastwatch raven, but Jon and to an extent Dany both had their arcs gutted in the last stretch to "subvert expectations."


Oh, Bran and his arc? Yeah, Bran turned into a pumpkin or something during the entire episode, I dunno.

Just because it's a fantasy setting with magic and dragons and faceshifting superassassins, does not mean that any kind of asspull is justifiable and makes sense.

What the fuk was the point of the whole plot of the original SW trilogy and Rogue One involving the Death Stars, plans, hidden weakpoint etc. if the Rebels could have pointed a random ship towards any major threat and turned on the hyperdrive to wipe out anything in front of them, just like the Resistance lesbo admiral did in TLJ.

Or case in point: how and why does a girl with 2 years of blue-belt Faceless training, with no previous relations and involvement with the NK just oneshot him with a Valyrian steel dagger while being surrounded by hundreds of undead?

I love how she had the executioner from King's Landing on her "list" and yet in the last season she literally acted as the executioner for Sansa during Littlefinger's trial (which went past Ned's rule about swinging the sword if you pass the judgement BTW). So what is the takeaway? That she is allowed to kill at will and without remorse because she is a "Faceless Man" (she technically isn't BTW, she literally denounces the title when she leaves the House of Black and White as Arya Stark if Winterfell).

The obvious conclusion from her arc should have been the realization that she is no better than those that she went out to get revenge on, because it isn't worth losing your humanity over. Instead she has become a walking tool for Dumb and Dumber to get "woke points" from idiots on Twitter by having her run around like John Wick and shooting off edgy one liners while impossibly kicking ass and showing zero weakness and facing zero punishment. The Faceless Men even let her bounce, and do they really seem like the type of organization that lets you just walk out LOL?
