It was silly, which is to say standing next to other criticisms of this season and that episode, not note worthy. I felt like addressing the unprecedented naval ambush of air units and medieval crossbows beyond modern cannons first. Not really worth pointing out someone has ink on their shirt when their nose is on fire, that kind of thing. It's still a big blotchy ink splot on a nice shirt and they really should get some club soda on it ASAP, but first they need to worry about their face on fire.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Some teaser images for Episode 5. I'm gonna throw them in a spoiler tag despite them being teasers from HBO and not revealing anything unexpected. Open image in new tab for big versions
Spoiler!

Don't care about the criticism etc, I'm excited af for this battle
Also hadn't considered until now that the wall-mounted crossbows probably can't even target ground level

And Dany's little 7 ship fleet was not meant to hit King's Landing or something, it was supposed to reach Dragonstone and thats it. Why would you need a sailor like Davos for that?

So just to spice this up a bit... what storyline or person are you most invested in?
Example-
I am mostly invested in jaimes storyline and hoping beyond hope that they keep him on the path of redemption. I’ll cry if he really is an *******

Do you guys think there is any significance to the Gendry scene last episode?
What did she mean when she said to tyrion 'he's not the only smart one?'
It would be a bit odd to just give Gendry that role without some type of purpose (unless it was to just write him out of the story i guess).

Sure, Davos was also just a smuggler and illiterate, but he spent years in court serving under Stannis before he was raised up as Hand.

To be honest, same with with the marriage proposal that also seems to be irrelevant content with literally no purpose.
I guess to me it just doesn't seem worth while filming these scenes and adding them in when there are so many other story lines which are open and could have been expanded on within this screen time.

You guys keep talking about how someone should die because they have no more significance in the show. Oh thromand is just going north? He should.have died in ep 3.
Why? Because he has no more significance in the show your watching? He going to the north to live his life. There's more to life than got. Let the guy go north and live his dreams.

I thought maybe when he said now a girl is truly no one or whatever that he was making a joke about the waif being dead lmao... but then Arya responded like he meant her.. so that went out the window. No point to go back and see if I missed something?

JaxBrah also made a good point that Jaquen's smile at the end was that he intended for her to refuse, and one way to see that is simply how it's like a final, "are yousure?", with Arya at least recognizing that this wasn't her path. Or at least, that was until the showrunners wanted Arya's character arc to be having her cake and eating it, too.

The most glaring is that I had an especially near death experience where I was in right on the brink and in a coma with my body shutting down, but brought out of it by EMS responders after my mum found me and called 911. While I didn't wake out of it with dramatic gasps for air or anything like that, I also only experienced complete blackness like Jon. That was after years of my cancer treatment's after effects taking their to toll, and recovering afterthatvery much felt like a chance to "fai again," as a Davos told Jon.
What really hit me though was that I had a far too similar "if there is a next time, don't bring me back," conversation (although this time not quite as calm as Jon, and not to a stranger). It's naturally not a very common connection to have with a fictional character, but it certainly has me sympathize with some of what Jon goes through or understand what might motivate some of his actions/thoughts.
Second to that is ever since I had cancer, I always felt in a way that would definitely be comparable to a bastard, unable to alter what outcome was, but nevertheless holding that against myself (which also kind of ties into Tyrion's line about all dwarves being bastards in their fathers' eyes).
Again, heavy personal bias there, but it's hard for me not to be invested in Jon's story. That said, other characters who I have grown to really appreciate are also Jaime, as well as The Hound due to both of them having such incredible shifts in their arcs as they grow as characters. Jaime in particular is such a conflicted, complex character whose motivations and actions create such a gripping story to follow.

He could be responsible for the NK, for Aerys going mad, etc.
Q: Although they did share a meaningful look. What was going on between them, in that moment? [Referring to the Night King death scene]
A: The reasoning behind that wasn’t actually in the script, but [the director Miguel Sapochnik] and I came up with this idea that the look Bran gives the Night King is one of pity. Bran saw the creation of the Night King, or the first White Walker, or whatever. He realizes that he was once just a normal guy who was forcibly strapped to a tree, and had a piece of dragonglass plunged in his heart. He didn’t ask to become this raving, crazy ice killer. So it’s a bit like a Frankenstein’s monster scenario. He was forced into this situation, and he was trapped into this Night King’s body, and programmed to kill everyone. So we tried to get a moment where Bran is feeling sorry for him. Bran is looking at this ancient being who didn’t want to become this murderer, but is. And the reason the Night King takes so long is that he’s been programmed to destroy the Three-Eyed Raven from the moment he was created, so he’s taking a moment to savor it.

Q: What do you think about how Bran’s arc is saying about the story’s larger theme of predestination versus free will? How much does he see from the future and set in motion? He gave Arya this dagger last season in just about the very spot where she ends up using it.
A: As I understand it, Bran can’t exactly see the future. I think he can have inklings. When Bran gives Arya the catspaw dagger, he knows there’s something important to do with it, but he doesn’t know that say, six months on, she’s going to use it to stab the Night King. So I think it’s still indeterminate, and not classical causal mechanics, where he just views things as actions that follow from one another. There’s still some uncertainty.

Q: He’s not a chessmaster putting people into position.
A: No, I don’t think he knows anything other than it’s important that Arya get that blade. He doesn’t necessarily know why.
Even if Bran did know everything that happened in the future — the reason, in my opinion, that Bran is so quiet and doesn’t necessarily choose to give everything away is that the Three-Eyed Raven is trained to be very calm and still, because he knows that the information that he has could be used for all sorts of purposes.

Q: Well, there are some contradictions within that. If he doesn’t fully know the future, how does he know what has to happen next? If he isn’t concerned with people’s emotions, why would he steer Sam to tell Jon at just the exact moment when the news would be somewhat tainted by his perception that Dany could be an unfit ruler?
A:That might just be for dramatic tension. But yeah, good point. [Laughs] This is all conjecture on my part. I’ve never actually gone through a very detailed analysis of what exactly Bran’s powers are with [the showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss]. To be honest, I don’t think they really want to do that. It would become like a superhero movie, if we knew every way that Bran’s powers worked and what exactly he can do. It’s best to keep that sense of mystery and an unknown to it.

edd no doubt would have lived if it weren't for useless sam ****in what the **** was he doin out there lol he has no combat experience at all. if anything he should have been in the crypts, last line of defense.

sam the white walker slayer fighting ^ lol
theon shouldn't have died imo
i feel like he would be the strongest. been through so much pain and torture that fighting is nothing to him.

The entire episode and the last few seasons were riddled with talk about everything being the will of the Lord of Light, about how the Lord of light keeps people alive against insurmountable odds and brings people back from the dead if they somehow manage to die and none of you connect that to the survival of some characters? Sam had clearly given up hope at more than a few stages of that fight and he still lived. There is an actual in world reason for it that was force fed to us through Melisandre, Beric and Jon and everybody looks right past it and goes to the writing.
The writing is rushed, a lot has obviously been trimmed from what they originally had that is losing a tonne of nuance but a lot of people here are missing story that IS being provided like the entire Lord of Light arc.
The Lord of Light won the battle of Winterfell by shaping everything that happened right up through the last few seasons. Brans role is clearly a major plot point in that he is the Lord of Light or something major. They aren't explaining it for a reason, that reason being that is probably a major plot point in the next episodes.
