Actually made me respect her LESS for having that written into her contract. If you’re an actress and the part calls for nudity then be a big girl and do it. This isn’t 1950. No one cares. You’re not posing for HUSTLER magazine or anything lol.

Part of the reason that I enjoyed Spartacus and Westworld so much was because the actors didn’t have a problem with this (male or female).

I might just avoid any GoT related threads/websites until the series is over.

This happened last season when the leak happened as well - people start making predictions and you start seeing common things pop up that weren't really mentioned before the leak and you just know these mofos have read the spoilers

Same here. Most people just just have the wool pulled over their eyes by the scale of things. They see a big battle, lots of shots of the dragons, etc, and think the season is great. I’ve been getting a lot of Bert stares when people ask what I think of this season and I tell them the writing is hot garbage. Then I explain what’s so bad about it and I can see their expression change as I basically ruin it for them.

Will be very curious to see how this is received now that they won’t have GRRM’s writing to fall back on. I don’t expect the characters to be nearly as compelling.

Edit: looking a little deeper at some of the posts above... apparently Jane Goldman (who has done Kickass, X-Men First Class and the Kingsman movies) is co-producing with GRRM. Not sure why they’d choose someone who’s more in the action/popcorn realm but whatever.

I don't think any show will ever be as shocking as GoT season 1. I mean Spartacus was way more over the top with the tits and violence, but that was low budget and a little campy, kind of expected like the 80s sword and sorcery exploitation films.

With GoT it was high production and serious drama, but then they threw the incest at you and the dothraki donkey rape scene. Really shocking stuff!

I've never watched a show where I legit felt scared for each character's well being scene by scene.

GoT 1-5 is seriously something special.

Ran into a lot of people today running errands and stuff about town. A few random normies, some friends, and some people I'm friends with at a couple stores.

I was just bantering with asking what they thought about GoT

Literally everyones general attitude is that its a good season and is hyped. One even said that everyone he talked to thinks its so awesome. One said he didn't watch it yet but is gonna binge watch it and he said he's excited because how "everyone is saying this season is so good"

So just want to remind you guys that the reddit nerds and criticizers are in a minority echo chamber of hate.

Your opinions are valid, just its not the mass consensus. According to my sample size its generally liked by people and they dont focus on all those plot holes and inconsistencies that we do, and are just in it for the ride. Its still a good ride for most people.

I dont think anyone that's made an intelligent argument about their distaste of the writing gives a singular fuk about what the masses think. In fact, most of us already realize that D&D are pandering to the least common denominator.

With hype, the knee jerk reaction is to be overjoyed. However, in time even the masses will turn on this season. I remember when the Phantom Menace hit, the first few geek style reviews (there weren’t many back then) were glowing: A+ reviews, famous, “Meesa loved it!” quotes from Harry Knowles, etc... the spectacle was big enough to cloud judgment but once it cooled off, it was considered garbage.

Same thing will happen here by the end if the quality and Shock-Value crash TV writing doesn’t improve.

Exactly. And thing is almost everyone ITT was hyped as chit before this season, so clearly they missed the mark.

In retrospect, they really didn't need to do all this dwelling and character interaction in episodes 1 & 2 with as much history the characters have. And unless something comes of it....the Bronn scene is also completely useless.

They should have just focused on the war and political movements that made this show so great.
