I'm trying and putting myself out there. Have you not seen my posts? I'm not arguing with you, I'm just pointing it out that I struggle with dating. It takes 2 people to have sex, if one is showing more effort than the other the results will be slim. It's no different from some of the other posters in this section. This section preaches that women doesn't go for average dudes, I go for the average dudes and gets very slim results. I hate to bring race into this, but I live in a majority white state and that is already difficult in itself. Not complaining just stating the facts.

That reminds me of years ago of women that will always smile at me even though I never really made a move to ask them out except in like one case (due to be still being on that indirect chit and my mind not being in the right place) aside from me saying hi to them and bye. They were persistent for a while as alot of them kept doing it for months. They didn't just give up when I didn't approach them after a while. The current me will take advantage of situations like that.

We don't necessarily pair bond for life in the same way that some bird species do, but we are a mostly monogamous species. That most mammals aren't monogamous is irrelevant. There's a reason why virtually every culture that has ever existed has marriage of some sort (and in all but one that I can think of, monogamy is at least enforced for the women), and the majority of human adults have been in a pair bond for at least some considerable length of time. We're not fully monogamous, but we're generally closer to it than the other way around. So are gibbons, actually.

Of course, polygamy for men was also a thing in most cultures outside of the West, but in practice this was only usually reserved for the elite and made possible by the accumulation of resources. In the pre-civilization tribal days, it wouldn't have been possible for any one man to keep some kind of harem for a variety of reasons. This includes resources and work being shared in the tribe, and also the fact that one man hogging all the women in a small tribal society would likely result in every man wanting to kill you. There's also the fact that most people in a tribe will be related to you by blood or marriage, and you're less likely to screw over a cousin than some stranger.

That doesnt mean we arent monogomaus. No one is making the claim that humans dont have the urge to smash anyone else.

Monogamy and pair-bonding are not the same thing, even though they have been conflated in recent times. Pair-bonding was likely an essential factor that drove evolution forward and perhaps even spurred the development of consciousness. Monogamy was largely a nineteenth century Victorian social construct that was necessary to usher in the nuclear family as a natural unit, which was not the norm prior to that period. However, that doesn't mean that humans are non-monogamous in the same fashion as other primates and species. The science on the neurology of love and heart break shows this clearly.

Also, to Otak: Actual Marxist theory, not the modern representation, did not posit that humans existed without tribes or pair-bonding. On the contrary, its theoretical foundation, historical materialism, states clearly that humans were always social animals and always existed in groups and clans.
