I love how you guys let the jealousy seep out when you post.

If you can’t afford a $300-$400 lease payment for a nice, brand new car, maybe it means you need to step your game up instead of judging people who can afford it no problem. How about that?

I signed a 3 year lease on a $48,000 truck for under $400 a month. Totally worth it and easily affordable. I wouldn’t drive around a Honda ****box but I also don’t make $9 an hour.

I wish rebuilding engines and tranmissions was more popular was. Get a late 90s or early 2000s Honda with a decent chassis. Throw in a brand new or rebuilt engine.

brb essentially you have a new car for less than 10k total
brb you're good for at least 200k miles

Have a 2013 60k mile Nissan Sentra I financed for 24months. Payments barely make a dent in my wallet and I have 6 months to go.

I purchased it for 5k.

Some people have a passion for cars and driving, and they are the ones who spend too much. The deceitful way a lot of car dealers act is also to blame. Then the banks loan way too much to people.

I was making $17.44 a few years ago and got approved for $40K. I only borrowed $22 of it and even that was stretching it.

I was same but like, “well, I got the motor out and torn down anyway, so while I’m there might as well throw in those titanium I beam connecting rods, resize the bearings, polish the crank, gapless rings.... phukk it I’ll spring for the forged pistons as well, and get the big valve reliefs in case I want bigger cams....

Also those turbos must be getting towards the end of their economical life...”

Next thing I know I’m busting around in a 600hp gtr

Have you ever sold a transmission? Cause i bought a rebuilt one for 3200 or 3700, cant remember at 177k miles. I then had more problems with my car at 192k

So the transmission is barely used. But it annoys the fuk out of me paying for a 3k+ transmission and now when i go to sell it i cant get 1k.

Ive thought about piecing it out and selling the tranny on its own but a lot of people arent helpful at all. If its a pain in the azz ill prob scrap the car and only get 350. But i know the scrap yard will prob turn it around and sell it with a pretty much new tranny for way more

Does the scrap yard legally have to offer any kind of warranty? Just curious.

Most states in Australia, if you’re running any kind of business you are hit by consumer laws

That means minimum 6 year loan assuming 0% APR. But you probably signed a 7 year loan. Holy **** you're retarded and part of the problem. If you leased it that honestly would be better than paying for the thing for 7 years, but a 50k lease for under $400\mo sounds too good to be true.

5 years MAX on a car loan, and only if you can get a APR that's below inflation. Ideally you're looking at 3-4 years.

Kinda envy that some people seem to get approved easily and have the latest cars. At the same time I do not want to have debts.

I live in third world country. Dont wanna/cant leave cuz my dogs are here and my parents are getting very old, so I am helping them. I got a pickup truck(I live near beach and I take my dogs to the beach almost weekly). But I have to save a lot and for a long time to get it. Bought it almost fully paid. I also do not have credit card cuz I know it is a trap.

I know many people here - first job, buy new car in first year. Eats out a lot, etc.

Idk man. Ive only contacted one scrap yard

And the guy offered 350 bucks after i explained about the transmission and everything

My mechanic contacted his scrapyard dude and said theyd do 275..but like i said, its a new/rebuilt transmission with like 10k miles on it. When i told a shady lil used car salesman he made an offer higher up, which happened after i told him about the transmission and i assumed meant he knew he could sell it for quite a bit more

If it’s a front wheel drive car with the engine mounted east/west then you can just pull the motor and trans as a unit and it’s a pretty easy swap if you can find a rebuilt one

I was going to suggest diy

If you have a mate that knows his way around an engine bay it’s a leisurely days work between the two of you

But if you’re paying people to do it for you it’s probably not worth the hassle

Most Americans live in places with negligible cycling infrastructure, and 10 miles+ commutes are very common - which aren't viable for people who aren't veteran riders. Of course, public transportation also sucks dick in general and cities are too spread out to walk. Cars are basically essential in most places.

It’s a lease. I’ll sell it outright to someone and I’ll get more than the residual even though it will be over mileage. People pay stupid money for trucks. I’ll take the extra $1000 I’ll make on it and put the first months payment down on my next brand new one. That’s what having good credit does for you. I’ll be in a new one and someone will be paying 600+ a month for my 3 year old one with 60,000+ miles on it.

I think buying new cars is dumb. BRB I OwN It....yea you’ll own it when it’s 6 years old and on its way to being a hooptie. Unless you can buy a new car cash in full, buying is way dumber than leasing.

Lease
-New one every 3 years
-Much cheaper payment
-Full warranty for the duration of the lease

Buy
-Gotta keep it at least 5-7 years to pay it off
-Much higher payment
-No warranty by the time you pay it off. You essentially end up with a piece of junk that you paid full price for, even worse if it starts needing repairs before it is paid off and you end up upside down on it.
