In your exemple the man has focus on himself and try to live his life. In the end, he has focus on himself to improve at least and ultimately what satisfy him is not that the potential of the chick declined but that he managed to raise himself, to better himself.

My take on comments like youre talking about is that youre seeing the reaction from guys who were considered undesireable. A good majority at least

With time/age their value goes down, they are like buying a brand new car. Will never be worth more than you paid for it, and within the first few years its value goes downhill significantly.
Men are appreciating assets (with outliers of course)
With time/age we generally get better looking (until after mid 40's is generally accepted age), our net worth/financial situation tends to improve dramatically after 30.
If you continue working out after 27... You will be the top 5% of people 30+ that stay in shape, almost every guy I know that works a mundane office job stopped going to the gym and stopped caring about their physical appearance. Continue lifting and working out and you will have a leg up.
