Considering moving from Cali to Alabama (srs)

Wife and I have been talking about leaving CA. Alabama is now in our top 3.

-Can sell our home here and get 3500+ square feet mansions for less than our current home costs, including acreage

-One of the most socially conservative states

-Great to raise kids

-My industry is good there

-Gun rights

-Fairly mild weather

Don’t man. Move from Cali, sure. But Alabama? You’ve already made some questionable choices, this one seems gratuitous and avoidable based on common sense alone

Idk man. I'm like really, really conservative. I feel like the south is where I'd fit in best. And seriously just go look at Zillow and see what $350k buys you in mobile

LMFAO

Alabama is literally ranked the 2nd worst state in the nation based on health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability, crime and corrections, and natural environment.

Alabama has a few nice areas, but Tennessee would be better.

You need to look at crime maps to see what areas to avoid.

Don't listen to the northern bigotry against southern states.

I'd pick AL over NY or NJ or MA or CA in a heartbeat.

The 2 big things that will come as a shock are:

- the humidity
- tornadoes

The south has humidity. If you aren't used to it, you'll be miserable until you get used to it.

It's around 100-105 here all summer. Humidity does worry me, but it isn't like we can do anything outside here during the summer either.

Are there really that many tornados thare?

You should. Alabama is a good place to live. Only problem is you get Tornadoes sometimes.

Yes, but they usually aren't too bad...if you're lucky lol.

Apparently Mississippi is a good place to live too.

Everyone going by rankings is full of chit. They are biased af. They pretty much base it off social programs and other bullchit

No, you haven't experience real humidity yet. 105 out here is hot, 90 degrees with 90% humidity is another level. You sweat in the shade and the air is suffocating. When the humidity stays high at night it is even worse. Not trying to persuade you to not move there. But I've found that native Californians are pretty pussy when it comes to weather. Wearing sweaters and long pants when it is mid 50's. That kind of *******ry doesn't fly outside ****stainforina.

Gotta go to where the jobs are.

I moved BACK to california because there's hardly anywhere else in the country that caters to my credentials, but here in Southern California,"my cup runneth over."

Also, I wasn't aware of Alabama having "mild winters" I do know their summers are insufferable. Its the "humid heat" instead of the dry heat of the west coast.

and another thing. Some of you guy that are paranoid about the "politics" of a state are just melodramatic sometimes. I'll move wherever the jobs are and if the environment and climate suits my taste. I don't care if there are liberals flying mexican flags or rednecks flying the dixie flag, if its a nice place then i'm gonna live there, and no amount of radical partisanship from those people is going to brainwash me to be like them.

One more thing op, if you want to look at extensive up to date data about a state or city go towww.city-data.com

You will need to display proof that you have burned your hair. It is the only way. Before you try anything, prove that.

No. Seriously. I know you already did what you should have dune. But not everyone does and here you act like one of us. You are not one of us. From here on, you must first prove yourself.

I'd say move to New Orleans but it's not really conservative anymore. Never really was, but there are a lot of areas that are very conservative.
