speaking as a former LE officer...black men have it rough with cops. Granted, some don't do themselves any favors by being mouthy and cocky with cops...but that doesn't justify the way they are treated.

advice to young black men...when pulled over, immediately roll all your windows down, turn the car off, place keys and wallet on the dash. KEEP HANDS VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES...there are some white trash cops looking to shoot your a$$...so don't give them any reason to do so. if you were profiled and feel you were wronged, solve that **** in the courts. nothing you can do from the grave.

I mean I don't know how anyone can see all the videos out there and not think that there is at least a little bit of a police state-ish atmosphere. Maybe not full blown police state, but seems closer to it here in the USA than other places.

As for racial profiling, i don't know if it's that, or economic profiling or a combination of both, but obviously there is an issue with the fact we have way more people in prison than any other country in the world, like per capita it's out of control high, and it's always people from poor neighborhoods getting tossed in prison, a lot of them for such petty crimes like small amounts of weed or some sh*t. I know others will say "well, they broke the law..."but seriously, if cops cracked down on colleges as much as certain neighborhoods, you would have 30% of the US college students serving years in prison because pot is everywhere on campuses. So essentially you have a certain group being targeted for a crime that a lot of others get away with, without a care in the world.

That said, you have a lot of people (me included) who don't feel like their freedoms are being targeted. You're going to have a hard time convincing people they need to revolt against the police when a good majority of the people aren't a part of the target group and feel like they are indeed being protected. And maybe they are being protected. Even black people make jokes about fearing being around group of ghetto youths. Unfortunate as it is they grew up severely disadvantaged which increases the risk of resorting to crime, and hence continuing a cycle, but doubt you will get enough people to champion this fight when they are sitting on the safe side. I see that there are issues that need correcting, but hard to care when i'm not affected and i feel exhausted enough with just the daily grind of life.

There are plenty of black criminals, hoodlums, etc. There are also plenty of good cops. Majority are good people in fact. That said it is mind boggling to me how anyone can claim there isn't a problem with police violence in this country. The vids in this thread are far from the worst out there.

yea u are right that most people will feel safer. That's always the question. How much freedom do we trade for security? On one end, with high freedom, you have anarchy and no security. On the other end, you have a police state with high security and no freedom. I think it is good to favor freedom a little by balancing the power of police. That question has been answered already boyo. We have continuously chosen security over freedom. Police state is just a small portion of it. They've been recording every form of communication for decades now, but it became totally legitimized after the patriot act. The NSA can literally pull any text or email you've ever sent in your entire life in a matter of minutes.

TBH, the minute an officer yells "gun", I'm not putting my hands anywhere but in the air, lawful order or not. I support the police, volunteered as a reserve, have many leo friends, etc, but I won't leave my family to fend for themselves over a misunderstanding. I'll hedge my risks and take the arrest.

My niece is biracial and when she was young, kids at her school called her the n-word. What did we do? It was addresses with the school and then we explained to her that there are sh!tty people that are taught sh!tty things by their parents and other people and that will never go away.
