I only skimmed the replies but IMO... we're all too conditioned to think that life is all about either (a) having lots of casual sex with people we don't actually like (or know well enough to like) very much, or (b) being in a relationship.

Being a more cheerful person with some interests in life might even make you more interesting to someone suitable of the opposite sex. SUITABLE though, not just whichever one is in proximity. When you're just desperate for VALIDATION you won't attract anything but sociopaths who want to take advantage of you. When I see people who just don't succeed and seem stuck, I've always seen a few factors. They are either digging that hole by getting into trouble with the law, having drinking or drug problems, impregnating sloots, ruining their credit, burning bridges, ect. They make little effort to improve their situation and if anything doesn't go right they just give up and go back to digging that hole. They complain about the money they make not being enough but do very little to change anything. As far as circumstances, the struggle is real, everyone has their issues, and yes, some are worse than others, but just as well most of the time some people complain more than others.

On the flip side, a lot of successful people make light of their success as though it just happened without work. They already knew it all, just went to college and walked through because they already knew it, just had to fill out the paperwork to get their degree. And/or when they started in their career, they just walked on the job day one killing it, their first day. They are just so bright and smart, everything has been so easy for them. It's all complete crap, I've never seen it in real life, everyone started at the bottom. Then they go about criticizing anyone below them who's trying to learn by pointing out their mistakes, trying to tell them they don't have it in them, all that crap. I really hate people like that.
