chicks have to transfer the drive toward the phallic signifier to other things than the man. "another man" works, but it is often not ideal (in socioculture). some of em become good moms, some of em focus on their career, etc.

This isn't true at all, nor does it jive with my experience. If anything, it's the opposite--men thrive off novelty, which is why smashing and dashing is a thing. Women's sex drive sky rockets in the context of a relationship where attraction remains strong. Women thrive off the familiarity and emotional bond that comes with a relationship (there are exceptions of course) but the last part is key.

I've seen both worlds. I was in an eight year relationship, but I have been single for the last 5 years. I have also slept with a ton of escorts. From my own personal experience, women have never absolved my depression or loneliness, so Chad and Stacy can keep doing what they do. Women aren't my cure.

Legit got onto my mom and sister during my trip because my sister and I got into a small fight because she was being extremely critical of me and trying to boss me around. Not to mention that since she just finished her deployment that she decided to take her cynicism out on me a bit prior to our fight.

The thing is the women on my mom's side of the family can be highly emotional and say things when they don't mean it, but rather say it in the heat of the argument. There are also less men on that side of the family and the fact that I don't have my father around any more (RIP) a lot of responsibility lies on me. My uncle tends to come around infrequent and for good reason. My aunt and grandmother are extremely critical of him and his life. Always cutting him down too.

So I told my mother that the level of emotional abuse the women on her side of the family do is unwarranted and frankly f*cked up. I don't deserve that BS and after our argument my sister and I had a talk. She sort of understood where I was coming from and said she will work on things but I tried to stress with her that talking to family any kind of way is ultimately toxic behavior and not how we should treat each other.

I get this but a lot of kids are just misguided because they have ****ty family situations. Not everyone has parents, like you're being to your kids, to save them from bad decisions. I can't explain how important having a positive father figure in a child's life is. I had a "father", but he is a loser who gave no fuks about me. I couldn't even go to him for advice. I didn't want money, just someone I could ask if I was doing the right thing or not.

What happened is I had to learn through mistakes -- costly mistakes that wasted years of time and money. Now, 48% of marriages are successful in today's world. This is absolutely destroying society. The father has been completely emasculated, women are raising kids essentially on their own.

Props to you for being a good father. Your kids are going to turn out good.

I’m not discounting in anyway that people grow up in fuked up situations, mine started very much that way as well. I am thankful my father stopped drinking when I was 14 and I was able to build a solid relationship with him.

The good thing is you were given the blueprint on what NOT to do and you have the outstanding chance to write your own script and break the cycle. I look back and I’m not mad at my father at all, he had 5 kids by 28...holy sh!t people aren’t barely moved out of their parents houses now by that age and don’t know who the fuk they even are so he did his best.

I don’t have the answer as to what’s right or if I’m living right but I do know all of this weird thing we maneuver in each day called live is about choices. One of the biggest choices people fail to make decisions on are what has power of you and what doesn’t...the only reason something has power of us is we allow it to.
