Spoiler!
and they've failed plenty of times before. This stand being an example.
-original iphone, pretty overpriced but groundbreaking and better than any competition at the time regardless of pricepoint
-apple watch. lol at the competition. they don't charge thousands of dollars for it even though it leaves the competition in the dumpster
-faceid, still nothing on android that competes. no radical new technology, just improving something that already exists.
All I'm saying is it's probably going to be the best monitor for 5k, competing with monitors in a higher price point. Pretty simple
List a single monitor with better specs than this monitor for cheaper. Protip, you can't.
So, going back to my original point
It's competing against the $4,000-40,000 monitors so it willcome down to performance to see where it falls for value in that range
It will probably beat out other $4k monitors. It might beat out other even more expensive monitors. But you're stupid if you say the specs aren't impressive.Originally Posted By ko300zx⏩

I listed 2 specs but it wins on every metric outside of resolution. So against monitors at a similar price point at you suggested, the apple monitor wins. Simple as that but that's beyond your comprehension apparently. Apple says this monitor competes against 40k monitors. I don't care if they do or don't but it's factual that their value will lie somewhere between a 4k monitor and a 40k monitor and judging from specs, it will be better than any monitor at said pricepoint. You're fuking retarded lmao. You're comparing contrast ratio and brightness and that is it. Just lmao.

Only one backtracking is you with your "All I'm saying is it's probably going to be the best monitor for 5k, competing with monitors in a higher price point. Pretty simple." You said it would compete directly with a $40,000 monitor and you are 100% wrong. And now you say, "I don't care if they do or don't", yet that's the only point I've been arguing. You are backtracking right out of this thread and immediately started with insults when you can't defend your argument outside of the 2 numbers you read on paper (respond to my post about comparing to $40k monitors when you get a chance).

You're either stupid or disingenuous.
Let's compare it to the dell 8k that you said
Dell UP3218K $3,899.99
Contrast Ratio1300:1
Brightness 400 cd/m²
Apple $5,000
Contrast Ratio 1,000,000:1
Brightness 1000 cd/m² sustained
Those specs in themselves make the comparison pointless as the apple monitor is already astronomically better than the monitor you suggest it compare to.
You might be trolling but whatever I guess. I'll go with you're just stupid.

This is a pretty good article that more accurately compares this monitor's place in the ecosystem based on the paper specs since that's all anyone has at this point. It points out that while it's a great monitor it also lacks some professional features. Its basically just a high end consumer monitor.

I’m sure we’ll be seeing these displays in high-end studios soon, and I’m sure that some of the appeal will be the client seeing a brand they know and trust. Pros have called on Apple to provide updated gear for years, and it’s finally happened. I’m going to brush off the comments that they’ve missed the mark here.
Good article. If we were to pick the new Atomos NEON monitor that matched Apple’s Pro Display the best, it would be the 31” model. This monitor comes in at $7,999. Granted, Atomos packs this monitor with way more I/O, a 4K 10-bit recorder, waveforms, LUTS, and even an accompanying app. But I hope you still see what the asking price for a good HDR monitor is.
...
Apple makes a bold point here. They think that if everybody buys these monitors and they overtake the existing industry standard, then the industry will be better off.
Looks like it's priced pretty well vs the competition. Better in some ways, worse in others....

Hopefully it would drive down prices but I'm sure 90+% of sales will just be casual people who don't even edit anything
With specs like that though, it would make sense for them to enter the high end TV market though. I wonder why they wont. Similar specs, 65-85in, $15k. There's definitely a market for that.

Maybe because you're twisting what I'm saying to prove some nonsensical point? That makes you stupid, or a loser, or any other list of names. Either way, at this point I don't really care so this will be my last reply to you.
Those numbers are quantifiable metrics to compare screens.

"1,000,000 > ____" is a viable comparison just like the apple monitor lacking important I/O is another viable comparison. But to you, only one of them are and the other being irrelevant.
lmao at the neg. how triggered at you, you non-lifting child. go do a push up or two, maybe the energy expenditure will calm you down.
Maybe because you're twisting what I'm saying to prove some nonsensical point? That makes you stupid, or a loser, or any other list of names. Either way, at this point I don't really care so this will be my last reply to you.
Those numbers are quantifiable metrics to compare screens.

Edit: Lol, at not even understanding the implications of having SDI versus USB-C.

Negged for being a *******, obviously. Not a single clue on the subject, calling everyone that proves you wrong stupid or whatever. And to call someone a child....there are some delusional posters on here but you may take the crown. You don't have to respond. You won't know anything more by then. I was only responding to see if you were going to take this to the grave or if you might admit Apple is full of sht.

That's a lot of effort to put into a monitor when the competition is already pretty massive. I doubt this model is their endgame.

Bloomberg reported on Sunday that Apple has built a 62,000-square foot facility to produce screens relying on MicroLED technology for testing purposes. It adds that engineers "managed to manufacture fully functional MicroLED screens for future Apple Watches" in late 2017, and have recently "grown confident in their ability to eventually replace screens from Samsung SSNLF and other suppliers."
First apple watches, then iphones, then macbooks/monitors, then maybe tvsMS, Computer Science
