The whole point of euthanasia is to humanely end suffering, seems like that's exactly what happened here. Next step is to close the loop by inhumanely ending the people who molested her.
This I felt if she knew who had molested her got the death penalty, that will start the healing process.

It's sad, because something could have happened in her life to give her a new outlook on things.

Who are you today is not who you will be tomorrow.

There's actually no reason why any past action needs to stay with you. For what ever reason she carried that with her. Yes traumatic, yes, yes, yes, bro your a man stfu, yes, yes, yes... but ultimately you can get over it.

However.

I don't think anyone else but the individual gets to decide if they want to continue living or not.

However.

With this made legal, many 17 year olds, who would have went on to live a very fulfilled life, and died peacefully in old age... will end their lives prematurely because it's now an option. And that's a shame.

the world really is a slippery slope, 10 years ago we would have all laughed at the absurd thought of a court forcing a parent to have their pre-teen son pumped full of estrogen and their dick lopped off because the little dude said he "felt like a girl", yet now that's exactly whats happening.

how much longer till a doctor can't refuse euthanasia to a teen, how much longer till court ordered euthanasia of sons and daughters.

this world is fked i tell ya.

That is just really sad. I did not read up on her, but seems lots of bad things. On the common, life can get really difficult. And then it gets better. And then it gets difficult. As bad as things get, it can get better. I am sure I never went through what she went through, still I wish she were still alive.

This is a better option than just suicide out right. It seems like there was transparency with the family. People like this would probably kill themselves anyway. At least now, the questions that would have left unanswered can be, she won’t suffer and though it will still hurt, the family have a chance of moving on.

I don’t support suicide, but it’s a real thing. I would rather this than a mother come home and find her daughter swimming in her own blood after slitting her wrist. Obviously this is never first choice, but if it’s the only salvation for everyone involved after everything has been exhausted, I can support this.

Nope. No you wouldn't. You'd quietly accept it and move on, like all other fathers of raped daughters do.

She was molested at 11 & 12 and then raped at 14.. She obviously struggled to live her life and it's easy for people to say she needed the "right" treatment but what is the right treatment for something like that? Some people live with it and eventually live their life and some people constantly have it in the back of their mind forever.. I don't know if i condone that sort of way of death but at the same time it was her choice. I hope those rapists either get a death penalty or thrown in jail and raped themselves.

So you're saying, arkona4trek, there's a human right to a quick and painless death? This concept is, to my knowledge, not present in any constitution of any country, or in international human rights law. The closest we've come to that is in laws about execution of criminals, but again that's a separate issue.

A human right to a quick and painless death. I can see that a quick and painless death isdesireable, but I can't see that it's ahuman right. Do we have the right to a painless life? If so, that's quite a welfare state we'll be building. If we have the right to a painless life, then we have a LOT of work to do.

And if wedon'thave the right to a painless life, why do we have the right to a painless death? Is that a country you'd want to be in, where there's no right to a painfree life but there is a right to a painfree death? "Look, we won't do anything to make your lives happy, but hey, if you're unhappy, we'll help you die! We'll leave you starving in the street but if you want we can kill you - aren't we decent and humane?" Why not just bring back Stalin?

I don't believe there's a human right to a painless life, ora painless death. That kind of thinking leads to wanting a very cotton-wool lifestyle. Indeed, why then should we not have state-supplied opiates and live our lives in a blissful daze? Have you readBrave New World? Generally that's considered a dystopia.

Studies suggest that someone who suffers serious trauma, their brain actually changes, especially likely to happen when young while the brain is still developing, causing personality changes in the longer term .There is a part of the brain that controls 'fight or flight' that was most likely constantly switched on. With most people, this part of the brain is off most of the time and only turns on when there is actual danger,in her case it stayed on.Can you imagine feeling constantly terrified and most likely she hated herself so much {many rape victims do}. She was raped not just once but twice over a short period of time. The trauma from that would have been catastrophic to her brain development.Unfortunately mental health care is still not up to par with the care given to physical disease. Treatments are either talking therapies or medication, both of which don't have great success rates. In her case it is very unlikely these treatments would have had much effect. So the best that could be done would have been to 'contain and monitor' her maybe for a significant period of her life. This screams a great injustice as she is basically being locked away for her own safety yet the scum who destroyed her life will not be punished as they should be.

I can totally understand why she would want to die. But on the other hand, in my view she doesn't have the mental capacity to make this decision ,it has nothing to do with religion with me, I just think she is too sick right now to make that choice. In my view the dutch killed someone who was not able to make the choice she did. So despite her life being a living hell if I was a judge I would have blocked her wishes and kept her alive. Just because of this principle. There is always a slight chance that after enough years she would have been glad she is still alive. Time is indeed a good healer. But I would say.. in my view the scum who did this do not deserve to stay on this earth. I would hang them without any regrets.
I bang trannies.

No no, that was not my intention at all to say there was a human right to quick and painless death.

the initial sentence was made by SSM12 and was "This is a better option than just suicide out right" and you ask why.

So yeah, my point was that from the person who wants to commit suicide POV, it is a lot better to be given the drugs they give you in assisted suicide rather than commited suicide on your own as the outcome is predictable, painless and fast.

So my point was from a factual and very specific pov and not from a right/law approach.

Rape was a prominent mating strategy for many thousands of years. Don't you think it makes sense that female brain chemistry would develop to help them cope with that reality? In the same way they can quickly move on after the loss of a partner/resource provider, I would think that most women are much less traumatized than this girl appeared to be.

My main beef with this is that she wasn't a legal adult when she made the decision to off herself via their legal system. I don't think a parent/guardian consenting alongside her was sufficient enough to let her go through with that prior to being a legal adult. But let's be honest here, it sounds like she'd been going through a ton of issues since she was 11 when her she was first victimized by the deranged criminals. Then, she was victimized yet again in an even worse way when she was 14. She was probably very miserable and for very justifiable reasons if that all made her feel like being done with life by 17, and she certainly would have been haunted by it for the remainder of her life at least on some level or another. I'm not saying that that was the right decision to make, but I'm also not going to judge her for her decision given the context. Because if I'm being honest, I'm not sure I could live through that, let alone if things like that had happened to me at a young age. Some of you are being awfully self-righteous to act as though you can't even understand where she was coming from with her decision, even if you still disagreed with it.

Also, just lol @ you if you're vehemently against allowing people to do this with assistance legally if you're pro-choice beyond the first trimester or so of a pregnancy once virtually all deformities and abnormalities can be detected in a fetus. Don't tell me a perfectly viable fetus is worthless and unworthy of the right to life up until the moment they are fully birthed while criticizing someone for wanting to end their own life via methods of a legal system that aren't bringing harm unto others.
