What if this was an innocent bicyclist? Do you feel justified now? Jfc can't believe I'm having this talk with an "adult" Get help you psycho. They could just as easily fall off that bike and die. Tours over then boyo

EDIT: I hope a lot of you get help. Seeing stuff like "cyclists deserve to die" is ****ed up. Not every cyclist disobeys traffic laws. If you feel like taking it out on them call the police instead of playing vigilante

Feel free to link me to that 5 page thread complaining about bad drivers, complete with multiple posts about damaging their personal property and assaulting or killing them.

Also, what you see itt is general complaining about cyclists, not about bad cyclists.

Road cyclists are 100% just riding on the road for attention from other gay men. Fluro lycra outfits, $10,000 bikes, shaved legs... just get the f**k off the f**king road with your 15mph cycling that endangers drivers because they have to overtake you on solid white lines.

Try driving your car at 20mph, you will get a ticket for driving too slowly, and endangering traffic.

Why can't we just get along, give us space and we will give you space. Also don't be unpredictable. Source me, having gotten a broken leg after a POS uber driver hit me by indicating one way and turning the other.

Here is an answer to OP's question: YES... ride 30 feet in front of them with a super bright nightclub strobe light shining in their eyes, for 20 minutes.

Also, you could drive right in front of them, then go slower than they are so that they have to overtake you.... then speed up when they go to overtake you.... then slow down and repeat 100 times. Film them as you are doing it, and when they assault you, ask them what their problem is, and that they should learn to share the roads with slower traffic.

Never trust other people on the road, especially when you're on a bike. If one person makes a mistake (or some mentally ill miscer tries to hit you on accident) your life can be over. One mistake is way too costly. I basically assume everyone is an idiot on the road and it keeps me safe. Reading reactions of some of these mentally ill people only reaffirms that believe, although of course these *******s here are the exception. Who would go out of their way to endanger another person for no reason at all?

my entire city is being turned into bicycle lanes now, once my nice little lake community used to have wide 2 lane roads, now it has narrow one lane roads everywhere with an entire bike lane that these phucks never use anyways, absolutely harem

My problem with cyclists on a road without a dedicated bike lane is the issue of momentum. There is an order of magnitude difference between a 160 lb cyclist riding 25 mph and a 600 lb (bike and rider) motorcycle riding 55 mph. Motorcycles belong on the road with cars because they are capable of a similar amount of momentum, whereas cyclists aren't. Cyclists belong on sidewalks with people because the collisions that may result involve far less difference in momentum. That's ultimately what determines the affect of a collision, the difference in momentum.

Also, I can't stand the fact that cyclist don't seem to regard their own safety as high as others. If someone in a car has to make an evasive maneuver and hits a cyclist or a cyclist hits a rock and falls in front of a driver, the driver could very well be charged with manslaughter just because that idiot doesn't value his/her life enough to stay off a road where things are riding by with as much as 50 times their momentum.

The only things that piss me off about cyclists are when they intentionally use the road despite a wide blacktop biking/walking path being available for them to use, and when they disregard traffic laws. I almost smoked a cyclist blowing through a red light (for his side of the road) in a crosswalk after flying out of nowhere down a hill, laid on the horn and the clown just waved at me like a bitch. Don't act like you're invincible Superman when using bicycles on the roads of 4k+ lb chunks of metal on wheels.

You people that think this are out of your mind.

Most sidewalks are barely wide enough to fit 2 people. In Houston we have a few parks where the paths are wide enough to fit bicycles and walkers ... and it is still a cluster fk. The typical human walking pace is 2-3 mph. A guy on a road bike can easily hit 17-27mph. With both people at top end there is a differential of 9:1. Worst thing I've seen is two cyclist at speed trying to avoid people walking and colliding head-on. If you're just puttering along on a beach cruiser doing 12 mph ... sure a sidewalk whatever. But when you start hitting 20+ mph that is street territory not sidewalk.

Most common misconception is that bicycles are slow. I suspect that is because the typical person you see pedaling around is overweight and at best doing 12-15mph. Put me or another avid cyclist on the road and my speed will range anywhere from 17mph up to about 35mph (on an all out sprint). Numerous times I've gotten the "da foook" look when keeping pace with a car in the 25-30mph range on residential streets.

Most of the time serious riders ride are during slow times, or they can keep up with slow paced traffic at busy times, at least road cyclists who commute.

However, there are a ton of ******* cyclists. There are guys who ride two abreast and don't go to single file to allow passing. There are *******s who blow through red lights. Biggest fact is that road rage is for pussies who cannot cope. Take a chill pill. You're really not going to get anywhere faster or safer by road raging. Cyclists can be rage inducing, but no more so than chit drivers. Chit drivers take the cake.
It's almost as if people on bikes need a separate area or lane to use that cars and walkers/joggers aren't using. I swear there's something like that. It's on the tip of my tongue. Ohh yeah, there are bike trails and bike lanes MEANT for cyclists. Go use those and get off the roads and paths you don't belong on.

The law states that we do belong.

I used highways, farm-to-market roads, and dirt roads to bicycle from northern Alberta to Mexico in 3 weeks. U mad that 3 different countries allow bicyclist on the same roads as vehicles?

According to you i should have to walk, own a car, fly, or pay a bus ticket to travel freely....

To hell with using the most efficient form of human locomotion to commute ... that's just dumb.

As a long time rider, this seems reasonable to me for any road with a speed limits over 25mph. Charge a small fee and require a road rules test.

My car has plates. My trailer has plates... Just because I'm the only motor for my bicycle doesn't mean my bicycle shouldn't. Wouldn't require it for roads <25mph because you have kids riding in their neighborhoods. My friend got a ticket riding in Rhode Island for exceeding the speed limit in a 35mph zone, so if you're subject to the laws, there's no reason you shouldn't have to prove you know them.

(Just keep the plate small and make it titanium. I don't want something ugly on my 4k+ child's toy. It might clash with my lycra tights and my pride week polka dotted and stripped rainbow fluorescent jersey)

I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong, but obviously nobody likes being wrong. I asked you to link me to the 5 page thread similar to this one in which people were complaining about motorists and talking about assaulting them, damaging their property, and killing them since you said we complain about motorists all the time. You didn't happen to find any threads that I think are even remotely similar to the hate that keeps being brought up itt. You linked threads from over a decade ago that got no traction and often focused on some small subset (female drivers, etc.). Sorry you can't think, buddy.

Again, in many areas the law is explicit in detailing that bikes do happen to belong on roads.

I'm not a big fan of more government intervention. Waste of tax dollars, imo.

I don't care at all about this, but an argument against this would be that it would create a financial barrier for broke bois who have no other option but to ride a bike for transportation and I'm sure someone somewhere would point out that it is somehow racist, srs.

all this could be avoided if these people on children's toys would just stay off the road.

bike with person = slow, lower visibility than a car and no protection for the rider.

Car= fast, heavy, driven by total morons with all kinds of possible distractions from eating to cell phones.

Turn your windshield washer nozzle 45 degrees to the outside. Give them a shower when you drive by

“Oops sorry man, didn’t see you there”

That's true, but I'm sure we could come up with a reasonable solution if we wanted to. Either way, there's really no logical argument against bicycles being on the road. Sidewalks are for walkers. BUT, riders should know and follow the actual road rules. Both to be safe, and to be polite. Using public roads, for driving or riding, is a privilege, not a right.

Funny timing on this thread. I'm allowed to start riding again post foot surgery in 9 more days. That's my 12 week mark and I'm looking forward to being able to do squats, dead-lifts, and to riding. Weather is too nice to be inside on the Concept 2.

I live in an area with a retired population so everyone one of them are cyclist. Luckily we have bike lanes on all the major roads or a very wide sidewalk they can ride on. If not most are pretty good about hugging the side of the road to let cars pass. I have been in areas or seen a few here that will hog up the whole road and completely disregard everything around them. Theyll go 20 in a 50mph road and will hold up traffic for 20+ cars. Cyclist like that should be given tickets as a car would in that situation. Me I would never bike because I know how frustrating it is to be inconvienced by cyclist who don't care about you or where you are going.

I don't think you should try and hurt them, thats stupid. I do think you should voice your opinion of it to the city and be more strict on them or get some cycling lanes created.

there should be more roads for cyclists and less roads for cars!
