Everyone wants to look good, but most of the images glorified in these mags are giving many people (especially Gen Z) the impression that in order to succeed in dating, relationships, careers and life, one MUST try to completely emulate the professional figures/personalities they advertise.
I would have agreed, but then I remembered all the obese people I see on a daily and I don’t think they really care.

Women are insecure about their lifestyle choices and appearance which is why they'll favour the dadbod as it's a one up for themselves

Who gives a fuk about the women in these studies.

90% of the time they're fat feminists.

Attractive sloots who know their value and know what they can get prefer muscles. Lower level sloots like feminists are literally coping

women don't know what they want

also a lot of the dad bod' movement stems from social statue jealousy, i.e. women wanting to be the more 'attractive' spouse in the relationship

but as per usual, what they say and what they actually want...is rarely the same thing.

Lmao yea right, go walk on the beach and tell me which gets more stares, a dad bod or the body of ripped Zac Efron.

This is another classic case of women saying the opposite of what they really think. The only, and I meanonlyreason a girl would prefer to date a dad bod over a chiseled six-pack, is that it's comfier to lay on andmakes her more secure in the relationship.

Every girl I've talked about it to prefers the dude they're dating being less attractive than they are, because dating a hot dude makes them really, really insecure.

Probably because....

A) It’s Planet Fitness
B) The United States is the second most obese country in the world and everyone’s slowly coming to the realization that they probably won’t ever be in good enough shape and have a severely low level of confidence, so they’ll never try and get with someone who’s in shape. They realize they can settle for the average which is the dad bod physique. Nothing is more self gratifying then adding to the group of people who are also in the same boat and agree that a dad bod is sexier since they won’t be intimidated or threatened by a significant other who’s in great shape.

Yeah either cope or a case of people thinking of mutated contest winning turtle guts, in which case yes a dadbod does look better.

I wasn't necessarily referring to people with obesity issues. Sometimes their weight issues are hormonal or psychological, and require medial attention. I wasn't even picturing the "average" dad body as an overweight body. But, in our society it is the norm. Hard to believe.

I was noting, specifically, that the covers of these men's magazines have images of superheroes splashed all over them. How many men look this freakishly jacked and this shredded IRL, 24/7, 365 days/year? Many men can be very muscular naturally, yes! But some of these pics go overboard. And then I read the questions from "newbie" posters (usually Gen Z) in the forums...It's no mystery as to why they seem so "obsessed" with appearance. They look at and read these magazines, thinking those images are attainable for anyone in a short period of time.

I have never been overweight, so I cannot speak for females in this sense. But I can only imagine how tough it must be to look at these slender, but sculpted fitness models, if they have been struggling with weight issues their whole lives...Not everyone has the same metabolism, drive, athletic ability, etc. IDK... It's realistic for some and not for others, IMHO.

a series of short tasks over a relatively longer period of time is life. altruistic light moves under the cover of your own darkness.. find this inner torch bearer and accompany them to the end. we all walk together, but we all walk alone. there is no understanding or purpose beyond that

They act like getting in shape is a chore. Bodybuilding is tough. Staying healthy and athletic isn’t.

Also, planet fitness lol. Dad bod is obese women’s body positivity for lazy men.

I have to agree with you on this one, SS. I kind of like Chris Pratt's "dad bod;" sexy and athletic in a family man kind of way!

He doesn't look that bad there, but that is the very very top body fat he can be and still look somewhat decent. Any more and he'd just look fat. Most men who are considered dad bod don't look like that. And I'm talking about the 2nd set of pics, not this one quoted by etet.

You do realize that he already has a muscular base, right? 99% of dudes with dad bods never worked out in their lives and all they have is just fat. The difference between the two are astronomically marginal.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. He can get away with it due to a muscular base. I even said in my last sentence that most guys who are considered dad bods don't look like that. Not really sure why you quoted me because we pretty much agree. lol
