Yeah, let's look at the state of blacks in the US, or blacks in any other country for that matter. Maybe those beatings aren't working as well as one would hope.

You're both right. Hitting your kids is a last resort, and usually not that helpful. A strong father figure often makes it unnecessary to resort to spanking/hitting. And this issue is apparent in a lot of communities these days, regardless of race.

I lost my SS card, and I need it to get one of them new REAL IDs, so I went to the Social Security Administration. I live in a nice area, mostly white, but as I got there, as I was parking, this ghetto ass black woman jumps out of an Uber, she's fat as fuk, wearing tights and an ill fitting shirt. After her, two little kids jump out, one about 6 years old, the other about 4 years old. And the smaller child starts looking towards something and gets distracted, so what does she do? She grabs the kid's arm and yanks him, and threatens to beat his ass. I bet if I asked her, she would think the way she was raising her child was perfectly fine, the way her mother raised her.

Striking a child will cause them, pain, and they will comply with whatever it is you're beating them for, but will they understand the underlying lesson you're trying to teach them? Will a child who is afraid, and in pain, will they be able to understand why it is that the person who is supposed to love and protect them is causing them pain?

Yeah I'm not saying do it for any and every infraction a kid does. I got whopped more than my sister lol. It was me disobeying them with me knowingly doing something I shouldn't have.

Usually with my sister it was her talking back.

Not in every situation. I think you took what hoganrulz said completely out of context and made it an entirely different subject on childhood disciplining.

You carry yourself with respect, and people will treat you as such, children will listen. There are a lot of kids in my family, and some of them are very badly behaved when at their homes, when they come to my house, they behave, because I don't tolerate the misbehavior. At the same time, I let children be children.

That brings up another issue altogether. Lets be cereal, kids who grow up in a rough neighborhood have to grow up a lot faster than kids in nice areas. I've seen both sides. A kid who puts gummy bears in his/her pocket from a fancy candy store in a nice area gets different treatment from a kid who shoplifts a ramen bag (out of hunger) from a bodega in a bad neighborhood. People in bad circumstances will probably be harsher on their kids because life has been harsher on them.

Tbh my parents never struck me... I was the second child so I think they figured it out to use mental/emotional discipline to get me to correct myself

However, that was 90s-20s...this day in age is a whole different scenario when it comes to kids’ outside influences...nickahs didnt have the internet like that on theor fingertips like they do now...shiyat all I worried about if my parents would let me out to play basketball with the bros...and if I was good, play night tag on the weekends
