Is it really worth hanging onto his car and shooting him over it?
Now they saying that the guy attempted murder on the officer... I don't see it that way, I see a man holding onto another mans car while he tried driving away from him.
Better solution?
Step off the car, guy takes off with a few bags of weed. No one dies.
His solution? Hold onto car, risk his own life, shoot at the guy, attempt to end his life.
Why?
Few bags of weed, if even... talk about escalating a situation from ---literally nothing---, to "someone's gonna die today"

id step back, shake my head and call it in and get back up. not worth all that drama chit.
some people make chitty as decisions in high pressure situations. not defending the driver cuz he is also a idiot for driving off.

I am no statistician but in my experience in Cali I hear about a few cop deaths per year out of tens of thousands of cops here. Multiple that by the average career span of 25 years you have about a 1 in 1000 chance of getting killed on the job as a cop. Just lmao @ being a scared lil bish jumping the gun.
Edit: to be clear I definitely do not think the cop in this situation did anything wrong. I am sick of cop apologists sucking cop dinks though talking about how noble and flawless they are.

What if this dude had a kidnapping victim in his trunk or trunk full of illegal firearms that were the real reason he was willing to take such a serious risk to get away? This isn't the 90's, getting busted over a little MJ isn't gonna get you nearly enough time to warrant trying to flee from the cops over it. Dude was a moron who should have just taken the L over the MJ and been done with it rather than escalating the situation to such ridiculous levels.
Yes MJ and MJ laws are ****ing ridiculous. I live in a recreational state and I've heard of people getting pulled over with plenty of LB's on them and being let go with a warning, just not worth the police time. But if a person attempts to flee/elud... wtf do you expect?

Guy was total moron for trying to drive away, but at the same time also feel sorry him . Clearly not the brightest spark
“Steroids is now just a word that the lazy and ignorant use to describe any guy that has more muscle and dedication than them”– Mike O'Hearn
"I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

hes acting casual in the beginning but definitely knows somethings up or potential. the cops are always up to this trickery. they will attempt to be friends but they are just playing. at the same time, he is in potential danger, so theres stuff going on beyond just a friendly chat. the guy smoking the black and mild wouldnt be a bad idea if he would take some really quick drags then put it out inside. too obvious otherwise.
having watched the full video i dont really understand a number of things. number one, why did the guy resist so badly just over some pot? the cop was probably honest with him when he told him he doesnt care about some personal use stuff. why freak out crying and doing, what brings me to the next question, whatever set the cop off? from the view after one watch, the cop just grabs his seat belt and starts going HAM out of nowhere, but had he shifted into gear? thought the car was off?
i watched one more time. i still dont get it.
the events leading to shooting begin at 8:40. they are sort of arguing about the black guy not wanting to get in trouble over marijuana. the cop says 'listen listen listen' then reaches into the window. then hes saying do me a favor do me a favor do me a favor. the black guy reaches out and grabs the cops currently empty right hand. or maybe hes holding on to the car with it.
i dont have time to go with further step by step but once hes grabbing the gun its fair game, even driving with the cop hanging in the window is very bad. obviously this guy fu cked up. but why did the cop feel the need to initiate physical contact without clear verbal commands? was it necessary to escalate it like that? had the guy shifted into gear? i dont really get it

I don't even think he's a bad guy, I think it was a heat of the moment thing, and cops in America are conditioned to be very stand their ground ish, show no weakness, shoot first ask questions later.
And it is a kind of conditioning, always on edge kind of thing. And yes they've got good reason to be on edge. But because they've got good reason to be on edge, doesn't make an action ok.
Like I imagine his mind is like "Oh no, guy is trying to run ME over... it's not MY FAULT for holding onto HIS CAR... no... HE'S RUNNING ME OVER... I've gotta shoot him"
When the reality is - Guy is taking off in his car, officer is holding onto his car and shooting at him.
Whatever Minority Report future ability seeing abilities the officer might have cannot be used to judge his actions (unless he can prove he can see the future or see through walls). Judgements must be made on current facts.

The system screwed up letting this dude with that many felonies back on the streets,
The dude screwed up by freaking out, reaching for gun, and driving with the cop still hanging on.
The cop screwed up by holding onto the car like he did.

I dont understand why people are saying the guy was scared or panicked...He is yelling "I didnt do nuthin", flailing his hands around as if to say "are you kidding me", goes for the officers gun and then drives off with the officer attached to the car...
He isnt scared, he is p*ssed that he is being "harassed"... His actions are pretty much a recipe to get shot up by the Police.

He isnt scared, he is p*ssed that he is being "harassed"... His actions are pretty much a recipe to get shot up by the Police.

Jesus
im not defending the criminal, but I cant understand why the cop would hang onto the guys seatbelt, and then double down on that decision after and hold onto the vehicle. Could of easily gotten himself killed there. If he smoked a little weed hes not exactly under the influence lol.
He had the guys ID, video of him, his license number etc.. going home to your family alive at the end of the day should be any police officers #1 priority. Not risking your damn life over a mentally unstable guy with a few bags of weed.
