Assuming OP means because it takes water to maintain. And since OP lives in that chithole California, they're always low on water.

But grass = oxygen. So it's very good for the environment.

This.

We don't have enough water here to even let people shower daily and still maintain our agriculture industry. Draining the local lakes to water your lawn is terrible.

Depending on where in CA, easy. In high-desirability areas you’d be lucky to get a modest apartment for $500k.

These types of grasses have different root systems than natural/prairie grasses and absorb much more water than natural grasses which reduces the amount of water that gets deposited into aquifers.

There are native plants and landscape alternatives to grass. Don't give me that chit about droughts.

Also strong this. Dude just install some native plants that will survive on their own in your area. There are great ways to do this beautifully with extremely low maintenance that are great for your environment.

"Worth"

It probably costs that much but it certainly isn't worth that much.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

use native grasses so you don't have to take excess water? Greenery is good for cleaning the air and producing oxygen.
