Father forgets twins in car

“Eleven-month-old twins were found dead in a car after their father seemingly forgot them while he went to work, New York police said.

The father, who police have not identified, unknowingly left his daughter and son in the car when he went to work Friday morning and discovered them dead in his Honda when he left for the afternoon around 4:30 p.m., according to the New York Police Department.“

this happens a lot more than it should, and car manufacturers’ solution for that is some stupid message on the screen when you stop the engine

brb imagine one of those kids ****ing frying to death, then the other kid watching him/her and dying only to fry to death also

what my family members in Israel do is put their phone and wallet and stuff with the kids in the back and that way they don’t forget them. but there are also systems that detect if there’s a person in the car that are pretty cheap, idk why it’s not on every car

People should very simply make a habit of always leaving something in the backseat of importance with the kids if they are left in the car for a few minutes (like your phone or wallet hidden right next to them).

Something that you absolutely need to go by your day or use to carrying on your person at all times for years/decades.

It is the best reminder to not have what you are suppose/use to have on you.

This way you can't forget your kids and things like these can never happen.

It is so easily avoidable. I blame the parent for being incompetent and criminally negligent. I hope he gets serious jail time, there is no excuse.

This is a great idea for busy tired parents.

That is so horrible. How do you ever forgive yourself? How does your spouse ever forgive you? Such a stupid unnecessary mistake. This happens way too often in the summer time, they should seriously invent something that would prevent it.

Poor babies ): it said they were found roaming at the mouth. If I was that guy there’s no way I could live with myself after that.
That’s a good idea to prevent these things although I feel it shouldn’t be necessary.

I think this is just murder imo. I highly doubt all these parents ''forgot'' their kid was in the car that they put there themselves.

Like what? You literally had to put them in the car in the first place.

A few weeks ago this dude left a dog in his car on a hot day for a while. Someone ended up smashing the windows out.

Yes, it's a tough one because on the one hand, sleep deprivation is a bish and it's impossible to say that if given the right circumstances we would never do this. I think it usually also happens when there is a change in routine. Like one parent always takes the kids to daycare and that one day the other parent was responsible for doing it. Add in tired, thinking about work stuff, out of your normal morning routine and this is what the end result is.

Seriously. Even when I go out with the kids on my own while they're at the babysitter I still sometimes open the back habitually.

Even if it was an "accident", it should not be treated as such.

The whole "put something important in the back" is laughable, as well. Wtf is more important than your kids?!

you never forgive yourself, it’s just a horrible situation altogether

and it sounds easy to remember, but all it takes is 1 small distraction and you completely forget about it. our brains ****ing suck at that kind of stuff, you can drive to the supermarket for the sole purpose of buying something then when you get there you forgot what you wanted to buy

it’s not about importance, it’s about something you’re accustomed to

you’re accustomed to having your wallet and phone in your pocket, if you check your pocket and you notice your phone is not there then you know something is wrong

on the other hand you’re not accustomed to holding your kids all the time

it happens a lot in Israel, either people forget or they leave them in the car “for 1 minute” that turns into hours because of distractions or people talking to you. if they left their wallet or phone in the back they’d remember quickly because how can you go more than 30 minutes without realizing your phone is not on you

Yes because that phone/wallet is so much more important then the infant... Lets be real. The type of negligent and lazy person that forgets their child in a car is the same type of person that would forget their wallet/phone in the car.



I'll never understand the type of person that doesn't lock their doors keys in hand. Then look in through the glass to confirm there isn't anything of value in plain sight that might cause someone to break a window to steal anyways. The simple habit of locking your doors keys in hand then glancing through the glass (3-5 seconds of time each time you exit your vehicle) can save so much heartache/inconvenience.




So many people end up in **** situations because they are too lazy and negligent to take 3 to 5 seconds to check. A simple habit can literally prevent you from being jacked or prevent your child from dying a brutal death.

A couple weeks ago where I live this happened. Dad put their 3 year old in their car seat, forgot to drop them off at their employer's on-site daycare, went to work, and found the kid in the car that afternoon. So fuked up, happens a lot more than you'd think unfortunately.

Yep, a change of routine is what usually makes this happen from the stories I've read. It's just so tragic. To think no one walked by that car the entire time. Ugh, I can't even think about it.

If this ever happened to me, I would take 100% full responsibility and lock myself up, if not take myself out entirely.

For the dude to make an excuse that it was an accident isn't good enough, to me.

Not one to go all sanctimommy, but this is one thing I'm fully incapable of understanding. Dogs, kids... How do you forget something so valuable?

I don't think we should make excuses for stuff like this happening. It's deplorable.

Honestly, people who forget their small children in their car and let them roast to death "by accident" should be locked up for life. I've never came even close to "forgetting" even my dog in a car, let alone my child. I don't buy the "accidents happen" crap in these cases. No excuses. I always suspect that a majority of the idiot "parents" who manage to do this were either drunk/high when they did it and/or did it intentionally and played the "it was an accident" card. Lock 'em up and let them rot.

Blaming car manufacturers for people leaving their kids to fry to death in their cars is weak sauce. That's like blaming a gun manufacturer for it when some moron leaves their gun unattended on a table with toddlers in the room and no adults, resulting in a kid getting shot by the gun.

Furthermore, if you're worried about your wallet, let alone fricken cell phone than you are your kid to the point where you're less likely to accidentally leave them behind somewhere than the kid, you're a damn psycho assshole.

No. It is just something that pisses me off.

You can call it cope all you want to, but stories like this hit hard. I couldn't imagine my kids going through a death like that. It's terrifying. And every time I read a story like that there's always the "it can happen to anyone". Then you read stories about people who have left their kids in a car and just went along with their lives after the kids got taken away.

But sure, call it cope because I think people should be punished more harshly for stupid "accidents" like this.

If I ever did something that caused my sons death, I can pretty much say 100% I'd kill myself. The thing with these situations though is that as I said above, it's a change in routine. Something like your husband always takes the kids to daycare, this one day you have to. So you're tired, probably rushing to get to work, distracted because you may have some big things going on at work that day and you just go through the motions of driving to work, parking and leaving your car.

I know I've been driving at night before on a route that I always take and I get to where I'm going and don't even remember driving there.

Like I said, even if it was an accident, there should be no excuse. But yeah, I'd off myself instantly. I'm more saying that we should stop giving excuses for things like this. If that means I have no empathy, that's fine. It's one of the only things I'm pretty vocal about in terms of parenting issues

This guy deserves to feel terrible, but his feelings are nothing compared to the pain those babies went through. Not to mention the mom. I couldnt imagine how she is even dealing with this.

Also where the hell did he park for someone not to see it? Just blows my mind.
