How about if a parent accidentally leaves a baby gate open for a few minutes and the kid leaves the safe area and tumbles down their stairs to their death/serious injury?

Both of thise mistakes require no more of a brain fart to happen than leaving them in a hot car. And how do these asss clowns forget their kid in the car for hours on end? Fuk off with your excuse making bullshiit.
Im a parent, and you are spot on. If your kids arent on your mind constantly while youre awake, youre a **** parent.

I'll never understand the type of person that doesn't lock their doors keys in hand. Then look in through the glass to confirm there isn't anything of value in plain sight that might cause someone to break a window to steal anyways. The simple habit of locking your doors keys in hand then glancing through the glass (3-5 seconds of time each time you exit your vehicle) can save so much heartache/inconvenience.

So many people end up in **** situations because they are too lazy and negligent to take 3 to 5 seconds to check. A simple habit can literally prevent you from being jacked or prevent your child from dying a brutal death.

Meanwhile, I'm like "OK, how the **** are those things more important than the kids?".

It sounds like I'm being judgmental, and perhaps I am. But that's why it's important to live mindfully and with purpose. It makes life more tolerable and you forget fewer things.

I don't believe a word of this. The father wanted to kill his children. it is simply not possible to forget your kids like that. I don't care what that stupid ass psychologist says.

I'm not a parent, so I have no idea what it's like to have a screaming child crying all night and wake up completely sleep deprived. That being said, lol @ all the potato miscers saying "OMG A BABY IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR CELLPHONE!!!! THIS IS SO STUPID!!!"

No one is arguing the significance of a child's life over a wallet or cellphone, it's just an added security measure if, for whatever reason, the parent does have some sort of "brain fog", mental lapse, or whatever you want to call it. For example, let's say this father in this scenario had his wallet and cellphone back there with the twins. Odds are he would walk to work and maybe his ID badge to get in the building is inside his wallet. Or (if he's like 99.9% of people these days), he would automatically reach for his smartphone to check for work e-mails, missed calls from his wife, texts from his secret tranny boyfriend, check the score from last night's sports games, etc. He would've doubled back to his car to grab these items and essentially saved his kids' lives.

The idea is silly because any normal parent is already thinking and checking on their kids all day and doesn't need a "reminder" to put in the back seat. On the flip side, the already neglectful parent isn't going to think of ideas to help them to "remember to think about the kids".

People without kids may not understand that. If/When they have a kid, then they'll understand. When you had a kid, they are on your mind 24/7 essentially.

Fair enough. But it wouldn't surprise me if the same parents (what was the number 52 cases last year?) were once saying the same exact thing before it happened to them.

Agreed. Let's look at the facts provided by the story.

1. Deadbeat "father" straps not one, but two of his infant children into their car seats in his vehicle.
2. He mindelessly drives to work instead of their daycare first like he was supposed to, probably making him 20+ minutes early to work than he would have been otherwise.
3. He "forgets" his kids in the car, goes in to work.
4. He doesn't think about his kids for 8.5 hours at work.
5. He was shocked to find his two children dead and baked to a crisp in his hot overn car that they'd been left alone in for his entire work shift.
6. He blames it on it being a break from his normal routine and being tired that day.

Yet somehow this dumb chit managed to function at work for his entire shift without anyone thinking he needed to go home sick or go see a doctor because he was apparently so exhausted and out of it. Give me a damn break. Nothing about the story makes sense.

If we're talking an hour or something and you're not used to having the kids? I can see that. But at some point during the work day, you are going to be thinking of your kid(s). You are going to realize you never went to the daycare... or you're going to realize you went in the store and your kid isn't there with you.... You're not just going through an 8 hour day not having a single thought about them. Is there a Mom in the picture? Usually with my wife, I am communicating all day about my son. If I am doing the school stuff that day, she will text making sure everything went ok.

I'm leaning towards malicious act too. A lot of people don't realize before having kids that your life in those first few years is really put on hold and it's a ****load of responsibility, work, and stress. If you're of the sociopathic/narcissistic nature, you may snap one day. Look at the case in Colorado of the dad killing his wife and kids because he wanted to be free and bang other sloots. Looked like a totally normal dude too.

I just can't see a father not giving a thought about their kids for an entire day and it be an "accident". I bet more comes out later.

does the liberal argument of "his kids his choice" still apply or nah we only do that perspective where morality is only based on the parameters of self and proximity when convenient?

What? There's no excuse for forgetting your kids... If you have to write a note to not forget you have kids, and you don't realize after a few minutes away from your kids that your kids are not with you, you shouldn't be allowed to have kids. The kids are not even a year old, why on earth did leaving them unattended make it as far as being a thought?

He was obviously on drugs. If the father has any sense of shame he should kill himself.

Phones and wallets are small objects that you don't think about unless you're using them. Babies are very large in comparison, and especially with those huge child seats it's impossible to miss them.

It isn't "stupid" merely because a baby is obviously more important than a wallet or cellphone. It's a dumbfuk comparison in the first place. Like I said earlier, people forget those because they're small and easily misplaced objects. You place your black cellphone or wallet on black furniture and it's practically invisible unless you're looking for it. But unless they have dementia, no one forgets to put on their fukin pants before going out. Why? Because pants, or missing pants, are noticeable. Comparing a living and breathing baby that weighs 20 lbs to a pocket sized object doesn't make even the tiniest bit of sense.

The USA is a country of 350 million people. I'd ballpark guess that 5% are parents of kids under five years old. 17 million people putting their kids in their car almost every fukkin day. Someone's eventually going to screw up.

I'm not condoning it, and if you knew you had killed your own child out of ignorance, I don't how you could ever break a smile again. Suicide would pretty much be expected. But 17 million people driving little kids around - you keep rolling those dice and eventually they're going to crap out. It's just probability.
