We've had constant large scale war throughout america's history. What constitutes hard times, exactly? If it's WWII level events then that's not a very helpful flowchart.

I'd say hard times only simplify life by clearly demonstrating who is in power. We don't have that at all right now. You have no idea where the influence for the majority of your thoughts come from. That is what makes you vulnerable, or "soft."

The hard times will come when this resource becomes aggressively harvested. We will see the older boomers continue to mentally isolate themselves from responsibility by remaining emotionally detached from the upcoming economic downfall of millennial. That is where the powers that be drew the line culturally. All anti-consumerist and predatory practices setforth by previous generations that only preyed upon following gens have been pegged as the fault of teh consumer that was sold the image of the preceding generation, while only getting "banking products" for their time and money.

The soft generation has come and gone. They were tricked into thinking the future was so abundant that it could atone for unethical profiteering and collusion. But things are getting even more flacid, oh boy. No, we're not exactly stopping the train.
