Never had a car payment in my entire life. Have no intentions of doing so, but I may be changing attitude on that.
Currently driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger that I bought outright a couple of years ago for $6.5k. Currently has very very apparent issues, but I'll survive for now. The goal is to save to buy outright a $10-15k vehicle, though my car might crap out before then.

2 beater crew.
Always have two and dont pay more than 3k for either one, that stretching it too. shoot for that cost for both.
One breaks down, junk it and buy another.
When you think of it, they really only need to last about 30 k miles. thats like 3 years of driving , sometimes many more than that, if you get 50-60 k miles out of it you are doing great. 60 k is like 10 trips across country and back,. thats a lot of driving.

2019 Subaru Forester 470 for 60 months
Thing is as spacious as a fuking G Wagon, love it. Huge windows and high ceiling. Lifetime warranty on the engine, axles, and transmission too with a 100 dollar deductible.
Why pay cash if your credit is 826?
