TOOL fans how torqued are your dongers rn?

A 10 minute prog metal tune from a group of 50 year olds who haven't released and album in 13 years is #1 on YouTube.

Unmistakably Tool from the very first second. Everything is just so focused and so clean. Hnnggg.

Didn't knock my socks off but that is what the rest of the album is for no doubt.

The new song is really boring to me. It's like TOOL has made like 10 masterpieces but the rest of their music is filler.

It feels like it lacks the...intricacy of previous albums/songs. Like it didn't get that far past the "jamming on it" stage. It's like a band that's trying to deliberately sound like tool rather than tool themselves. Lets put delay on the bass...tool does that.

That said, I like it, but hope the rest of the album is more interesting.

Couldn't agree more. Some elements of this new track sound almost copy/pasted from previous songs. But I heard some of that in their last album too.

Put delay in the bass ? *sigh*

They use unique time signatures, that is the tool sound.

I'm not big into Tool but according to MJK on JRE, the band was overly anal about this particular album. So maybe they were overdoing it a little?

Repped.

Great song. Feels like the middle of the album tune. One drum pattern is ripped from another song though, only lasts like 10 seconds though.

Yeah it sucks waiting 13 years for your favorite band to come out with a new Album. I've overheard every album of there's in the past few months waiting for this new one. Even went through all my A Perfect Circle and Puscifer albums. Can't wait for this new album to finally come out.

i'll get around to it when i have time to be mostly underwhelmed.

liked Undertow, LOVED Aenima and Lateralus, but thought 10k Days sucked dick. Add in the distaste and irritation the frontman seems to have always had for his fans and i'm just "meh" on this release.

Not to be "that guy" but technically THIS is how you sound like tool.

And honestly these guys can't win at this point. It's been 13 years. If it doesn't sound EXACTLY like tool fans will be like wtf is this. And if it DOES sound exactly like tool, wtf took so long/you guys are just repeating yourselves.

All right, it's not bad... Some parts I wasn't really a fan of, ending had some Lateralus riffs which I love cause that's my favorite Tool song by far. Lateralus I have chills from beginning to end.

I really think A Perfect Circle has more consistently good songs than Tool though.

Some Tool songs are just meh, unlike Deftones where literally almost every song is fire in their entire discography besides maybe 1 or 2 out of 100+ songs after 20+ years of consistently great albums.

Nothing comes close to Deftones for me but looking forward to the album.

It had its moments (wings for marie, right in two) but crap like "I must have been, high, I must have been so high" "I own a TV 'cause tragedy thrills me" and "chit the bed again" just isn't what I expect after Lateralus

I might be an outcast here, but Undertow was the best Tool album by a good bit.

The drums on it are just beautiful.

I bought a Chorus pedal in high school just so i could play along to this song on my bass guitar. song is a fuking masterpiece and in itself better than the entire undertow album.

I don't think those lyrics were bad, just different than the previous albums, they have plenty of meaning... Also it's "eye on the tv" lmao
