I was in a local park and some 10 year old kid was frustrated cus he kept wiping, and his mom didn't know what was going on. I went and helped him out and the little dude was so happy

.....and then he got a Shiny Rayquaza on a level 18 account. such is life

Hatched a 15/13/14 shiny ralts like 3 hours after community day ended lol. Not sure if I want to evolve to gardevoir or gallade. I could use gardevoir with fairy moves as a dragon raid killer since I only have 2 glaceons for that right now

Also 13 candies away from a 15/15/15 togekiss.. not to mention I need a sinnoh stone. I got one from last weeks research box but from what I remember they aren't guaranteed

Togekiss is one of my favorites.

You can PvP three times a day or train once against an NPC trainer for a possible Shinnoh stone. That's how I get most of mine.

well boys, i finally bit the bullet and download it yesterday morning

lvl 8 already lol. there's 2 pokestops and a gym near my work close enough that I don't need to get up from my desk to hit them. Then there's another 2 stops right next to my house that i can reach from my house

That being said,I have absolutely no idea what i'm doingso I'm just catching every possible pokemon that pops up and maybe when I hit like lvl 20 I'll figure out what I actually should be doing. I obviously don't have any good pokemon to beat a gym or anything so I'm not bothering until I have something 2k+

For now, I'm just transferring any weaker duplicate I catch and accumulating items

Are you IV checking the Pokemon you catch? I have used the app Poke Genie but there may be better options out there for the hardcores.

1) Can a pokemon with low CP have good IVs? I'm just going off of cp, I've already caught 39 different pokemon so far and nothing remotely decent.
2) Should I bother to check IVs even if the pokemon is some trash like sparrow and whatnot?

I figured to not bother caring too much for now because I want to save my startdust for
1) good pokemon in the top 50 or so in terms of strength
2) my favorite pokemon. Like i don't care if i have a 4kcp groudon, I'd still run hitmonchan since he's my #1

So I shouldnt really care about wasting stardust on evolving a zubat for example right?

Spoiler!
is anybody has a good shiny hitmonchan, i'd consider buying it off u
or porygon z

the higher the IV is, the higher the max CP is. it is worth spending the stardust on a low cp, high iv pokemon if it is among the best attackers of its respective type, if you don't have enough good attackers of the same type, and if the cp isn't too low for you to afford the dust (e.g. below lvl 20). most important aspect of the IV in raids is the attack because it allows you to take down the raid boss faster (good for damage bonus and short-manning raids). i, for example, would rather power up a 15/12/12 rayquaza over a 12/15/15 even though it has a lower IV.

that being said, don't feel in a rush to power anything up if it won't be of help for current raid boss or if you have a decent substitute for attacking gyms. you might find something better with time, so don't power up until you need it.

EDIT: another detail worth mentioning: if you are at a low level (below lvl 30), avoid powering up as much as possible because the higher your level is, the higher potential CP a wild pokemon will have (this is applicable up to level 33, i think, but i could be wrong).

I would select "Best sum of stats" from the dropdown menu, but different Pokemon are best for different situations. And top CP mons decay faster in gyms.

Yes. Chance of Shinnoh stone from training. You can fight them as much as you want, but only get paid once a day.

Alrighty, i ran out of pokeballs/greatballs finally at lvl 14

Googling around says the best way to consistently get more balls is via gifts so does anybody want to add me and help me out? I have like 5+ gifts i find a day so i can gift you guys back as well

Don't worry about powering many of them up until you are level 30ish. If you want to be able to do raids you will want to power up machamps, tyranitars, metagross and eevees. To be honest, you can get by just by evolving your high CP eevees into its various evolutions. For instance with the rayquaza raids up now, a team of 6 high CP glaceons are powerful, second best pokemon you can use for the fight. vaporeon is a strong water type, jolteon and flareon... meh, espeon is great for psyhchic....

The nice thing about building out an eevee army while you level up is that you can just toss them as you get better options. I just levelled up a 3rd account. It took me a few weeks to get to 30 and all I did to make it useful was complete enough raids to get 6 machamps, 6 ttars, i evolved my high CP eevees and I pick up a different legendary each week from research tasks so i have 2 decent groundons, etc... Wound up getting something like 275K dust that I haven't used. Anyhow, that's how I would start and by the time you get there you should know what you are doing well enough to sort it.

starting out I wouldn't use any stardust or evolve anything until level 30

it took me about a week of playing to get there thanks to friends and the new research

from there, my priority is grandfathered moveset pokemon > shiny pokemon > high IV > CP

everyone seems to always have a ton of stardust, so having high CP to start doesn't matter

and with friendship now, you can get trades that are guaranteed 80+ IV, so just level a 2nd account and trade yourself and boom all of your Pokemon are god tier

Wound up getting something like 275K dust that I haven't used. Anyhow, that's how I would start and by the time you get there you should know what you are doing well enough to sort it.
Having multiple accounts is good because you can pass (trade) your lower level Eeveeloutions and Rhydons to the newbs and they can have a viable battle squad at a lower level. Also, if you have at least three alt accounts, you can level them and trade gifts with your main so when you get the "Trade a Pokemon" or "Trade three Pokemon" and the "Battle another trainer in the Great League" tasks you'll already have the friendship built up. And then when you get the "Make three new friends" task, friend the three alts to each other.

Note that this is technically against the rules, and requires at least two devices, but it's the only way folks who live out in the sticks and don't get into town much can complete those tasks.
