I thought TLJ confirmed Rey's parents don't matter and she isn't related to anyone special? TLJ ruined star wars for me and since Rey cant lose I cant get invested in this movie. i want to love it but its ruined.

Luke is the one that got royally f'd up. They had 1 job, and that was to make Luke bada*s and show him as the most powerful Jedi. Was just a lame cop out and straight diversion of his character arc and personality (to go along with his random death).. that is unforgivable to me

Everyone seemed to come out and say this, but I got the impression that Kylo (I think it was him that told her) was just saying it and continuing to keep her actual parents a secret. I didn't like the movie, so maybe my attention to detail wasn't that great, but if I remember the only direct reference to who here parents were was when Kylo I think was trying to get her to come with him? So he told her that her parents were nobody basically. To me it just seemed like he wasn't being honest. My guess is in this movie, or another one they'll say who her parents really are.

Mate it even goes beyond the character and they straight up disrespected Mark Hamill with the way they treated him. Imagine working with George Lucas back in his visionary days, then returning to the saga decades later and having your input DENIED by some Disney puppet.

Rey's parents are going to be a Skywalker. I'm still fully convinced. I do not think it will be Luke. Way too obvious. I mentioned a few pages back I believe she is the offspring of Leia and Han (explains the bond with Han in FA and her pilot skills)

Fully aware some producer script gymnastics would need to happen to even remotely make it feasible, but it can be done for shock value for the audience.

She's going to end up something along the lines of:

Palpatine manipulated medichloreans to create Anakin
therefore, either Palpatine manipulated medichloreans to create Rey
or Palpatine cloned himself somehow to create Rey

Rey has no parents, rey is stupid strong and leans on the dark side due to palpatine influence, all works out
Snoke could be another botched palpatine clone as well. explains how he knew so much about vader

It could have worked out if movie 8 wasn't so trash and started giving hints at it somehow. But now it would come off as ham-fisted and pure shock value

Personally I'm done with Disney Wars, haven't even watched TLJ - although I did watch Solo, which was meh - and probably won't watch this either. Chit story, chit characters - well tbh Rey is not even a character, more like a promo/plot device at best - and they managed to fuk up Luke. They can burn in hell.

I can't even fathom what everyone is supposed to do, I mean the "Resistance" is completely gone, they have their ragtag band of degenerates aboard the Falcon, and that's it, that's all they have.

Yeah I'm always optimistic but I dont really see how the main story is salvageable at this point. Tbh I thought solo was head and shoulders above the last 2 saga movies. And I'm interested in seeing the mandalorian since pedro Pascal is an excellent actor, but they ain't getting my money for it.

they're brilliant using the nostalgia factor in getting people to pay attention......that music alone makes me feel like a kid again. I'm gonna watch, because I want to see how it ends, but they've done a terrible job having a coherent story for these three movies

As an old guy I went to the movie theaters to see the originals. I remember the amp, hype and excitement like it was yesterday.

I hate the fact the Disney screwed up the series and I end up in the theater only driven by nostalgia. They couldn't kill this series anymore than they have...

that Kylo/Rey duel scene SHOULD have some sort of emotional impact on me but i feel absolutely nothing. They have done a miserable job at character development. Every main character could die in the opening scene and no one would give a single fuk. In fact, it would make for a better movie

This is hard truth. We were all upset when Han/Luke died. We don't care if any of these characters die.
