Never had a problem with older heads, they've never had a problem with me. My inner circle is 5 to 35 years above my age, which is 27. I get the occasional elderly woman cussing me for my parking, as she gets out of Cadillac with a cane. Truth be told i probably deserved it. Or the Elderly gentleman who whispers in my ear "you should learn some manners" at the bank, when it's lined up out the door and I rush the counter as soon as the last person walks away and not let the teller collect themselves to do a proper greeting. I love old people. They tell it like it is. Boo hoo if you don't like it.

As an older guy I have to say that you are correct about how older people treat younger people.

I think it is just insecurites or something, hell, I dont know but you have to figure that these same people have been ass holes their wholes lives so being old didnt make them that way.

Lots of people think that younger people are somehow stupid or something. Its sort if like if you look at some tribesmen or someone from olden times and think the reason they didnt have cars and planes is because they are stupid without ever thinking they are as smart as we are but did not have the technology we have.

Most of these grumpy people are the same ones I cannot stand who go everywhere with their wives and want to hang around with them 24/7 for some god only knows reason.

I don't get it. Old people say get married and have kids while in college because life gets harder as you get older. They say how they had kids while in high school, not 30 years old.

Imo, and based on my own personal experience, older people are very angry and HATE younger people with a passion, younger people are not even aware of this, lol

Its all about respek.

People can "sense" if you have it for them and they tend to reciprocate it.

But older folks don't know it all. A lot of what they know tends to become outdated. But not all things. Some things are timeless. So everyone has to work off each other.

Probably a social hierarchy thing for some as even I notice this at times from folks around 60, but not really from people my age or younger. Then at my current work I run into folk age 80-100 sometimes and they are the most laid back, humble and cool to talk to.

Wait can you answer this question kind old wise man. Since you live in California, would you say it's realistic for all millennials to move out and be independent according to what Dave is saying. i.e all kids should be good to go by 30 especially under California's housing crisis. Where a **** house costs 500k that could typically buy you mansion in Oregon.

I actually like talking to older people, and have made friends with people older than my parents. The one thing younger people need to understand about older people is that they don't give a fuk about your little feelings. They don't care about your quips, and quirks. If you want to have a conversation, fine, but the second you go all soyboy millennial they cut that chit right off. Show respect, shut your mouth, have something of value to offer, and be engaging and you should be fine. All that "everything changed after 2012" chit doesn't fly.

I'm 39, here's an example. We all had to go to class the day after 9/11. Millenials on the other hand had classes canceled because of an election result, and said "This is our 9/11." They also had to seek counseling because of an election result.

Ok what is the boomer solution to not owning a house but being independent while also financially speaking being a good move?

They will typically say get some roommates and rent an apartment. But in all seriousness, isn't this the same as living with parents? Except some parents may actually own their house, so they don't even pay rent/mortgage, and if they didn't and the parents lived in an apartment, doesn't that make them reliable roommates that, you know, will actually make consistent payments and not bail on you.

Remember bringing girls overs with a roommate: "Shhh gotta be quiet, don't want to piss off my roommate, so he bails on me and I don't have cash to make payments, so I'll get evicted."

Some old people are just easily set off because they're tired of dealing with the BS of life. It's not that they don't like young people its just they're an easy target. The older you get the worse you feel and that's a fact of life. Things on/in your body start to randomly hurt and a lot of times you can't do anything to alleviate it. Plus a lot of the stuff you liked to do when you were young you can't do anymore. Your friends start dying. Maybe your family ignores you. Lots of reasons to build resentment as you age. You have to fight against those dark thoughts before they consume you so you don't become a cranky old person.

Every generation needs to complain about the new thing. It distracts them from the realization that they're outdated and decaying. They are the past that we're moving away from, towards a new and unfamiliar future. They need to stay relevant and useful, so they complain about things they never had. "Back in my day" is irrelevant and counterproductive. Claiming that we're spiraling into a socio-cultural apocalypse because of young people is a common theme every decade. As they age, millennial will be doing that too.

Degree is the new highschool diploma, even the most basic ass job postings require one. Of course it's easy to move out at 18 40yrs ago when you could find a job with a handshake/blowjob and earn a liveable wage almost immediately, and could actually buy a house in a few years. I'd like to know how most boomers would handle growing up in todays hyper competitive world, considering most of you were silver spoon fed hippies that never faced any real hardship.
