Typical old man blinded by how out of touch he is. "San Francisco isn't the problem, you are". If you old men didn't screw everything up for us, we could enjoy the easy life you had.

Isn't this why laws are becoming more and more popular to get rid of zoning laws that Gramps put in place to keep his property values up? You aware old people are afraid of losing their unbuyable property?

Gramps had a handout given to him on a silver platter. Now Gramps is angry at his kids cuz he blew his entire fortune.

Maybe in the 60s and 70s.....maybe.

Thing is, it sounds like he's almost proud that he's living at home with mommy till he's 30. I'm sure mom isn't proud.

I want to add Gramps bought his property for 40K and is selling it for 500k. Old man sees no problem with this when he turns his back and tells us houses are cheap if we just save money.

OP, old is fifteen years older that you are and a kid is fifteen years younger than you are. So, to me if you're under 45 you're a kid, so get off my damn lawn, and if you're 75 then you're old. I like old guys and there are some kids that are OK.

How is this at all inconsistent with what I've been saying? If you own a house in California, you can sell it and live in a mansion in the cheaper states.

Y'know 1,1,1,3,20,20,20
Median is 3, average is 9.43
It ain't that crazy for prices to vary even more wildly in some places.
Cheapest house/mobile I could find in Cali is 23,000, I'm sure that is not even realistic for most people as a crap house is 500k.
