Bruce Lee's daughter was upset about the depiction of him.
https://pagesix.com/2019/07/30/bruce-lees-daughter-upset-about-his-depiction-in-once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood/[/ur]
BTW Leo and Brad had amazing on stage chemistry. Wish to see more of them together.
Lee was known to be braggadocios at times, but, I understand her wanting to protect her father's legacy, though I don't think it particularly damaging to is reputation in any way.

It wasn’t just the dirty feet, it seems like every single shot of the movie started at someone’s foot. I think they showed every single shoe every actor wore

I liked it. Definitely not his best work, but I feel like that's because this is more of a character-driven film rather than his usual story/plot-driven. I really liked the progression of DiCaprio's character -especially seeing the growth in his self-confidence and how it influenced the ending.
The ending was 10/10 though holy ****. Brad & Leo's chemistry was on point. I'd love to see them on screen again.

Yeah, I agree, except this might be up there with Pulp as my favorite of his. I'll have a better idea when I see it a few more times.

Why do people think Pitt is a good actor? He's stale in all of his roles.

Near perfect movie, i wonder how close knit of a bond between an actor and his stuntman is embellished here lol.

I have to admit that the feet shots were a little distracting. Especially the hippie chick in Brad Pitt's car.

A lot of people that don't understand the movie probably never worked in the business. I related to leo a lot since I do film acting and have a union agent. I know the feels and what he goes through with his ups and downs.
btw. Mr.PissShivers: I unlocked a life accomplishment. I got signed with a big SAG agent in the South East area three months ago. The hustle is hard. I'm doing long form improv and "advanced" stanislavsky class plus my main coach. It's in my contract to keep training.

If Gen Z watch that movie, and have never seen anything other than that regarding Bruce Lee, they'll likely just conclude that he was a dick.

There were large periods of silence, where the goal seemed to be showing 1969 Hollywood scenery.
I found the movie incredibly boring (though Leo's acting during the Western scene was mind blowingly good), and I would have walked out, but the person I was with wanted to stay.

enjoyed it, prob not top 3 tarantino movies for me but glad i saw it. Dicaprios scene in the trailer after messing up his line was great and enjoyed the scene with him and the little girl talking to each other. I feel like pitt had a lot of the character aldo raine coming through too maybe that was just me. Great ending and the pit was majestic as **** (pit haters suck a dick)

Gen Z in general don't watch or have much of an interest in Bruce Lee movies nor his philosophy IMO. We are both in our mid 30s, IME having conversations with Gen Z about cultural icons is eye opening. Tarantino's name carries weight though.

She was playing Sharon Tate, and I believe those scenes were for 2 reasons:
1) To humanize her (and her friends), and show her as more than just a murder victim.
2) To lead the watchers to think that the movie was going to climax by showing her being massacred.

From an article I found last night, The Unbearable Wokeness of Tarantino’s Critics:
"One of Brody’s many bugbears is the representation of Bruce Lee, played by Mike Moh, who is humiliated in a scuffle with stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) on the set of The Green Hornet. Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee’s daughter) has described the portrayal as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘belittling’. Former basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar considers it ‘somewhat racist’. Lee biographer Matthew Polly calls it ‘inaccurate’. In reality, the scene in question is a strong comedic set piece with an impressive performance from Moh, which also happens to serve an important function in the narrative. A screen idol like Bruce Lee hardly needs to be protected from caricature, and it is surely demeaning to his legacy to suggest otherwise.
As to the question of whether or not Cliff could have bested Lee in a fight, Tarantino has this to say: ‘If you ask me the question, “Who would win in a fight: Bruce Lee or Dracula?”, it’s the same question. It’s a fictional character. If I say Cliff can beat Bruce Lee up, he’s a fictional character so he could beat Bruce Lee up.’ Unlike his woke critics, Tarantino understands the difference between art and reality."

I recommend reading the whole thing.

We know from the decades upon decades of evidence in advertising, that images affect people judgments (consciously or unconsciously). My argument is that if people walk away with the automatically created judgement that Bruce Lee was an arrogant prick, then it's not their fault... Because that seems to be exactly the kind of judgement of the character that Tarantino was trying to elicit.
Wether people 'should' or 'shouldn't' do further research about the character of Bruce isn't the issue that myself and his daughter bring up, it's that people often don't. So that kind of portrayal will have an affect.
No other real actor or actress depicted had that kind of caricature of themselves (if I remember right) in the movie, only Bruce, so it may not be clear to the audience that it's a caricature... More like a mockery.

Do you believe that artists 'should' not take responsibility or be held accountable, for the potential or actual impact of their work?
Let's say an artist (which has happened historically) makes racist cartoons, depicting entire demographics as inferior and sub-human. Do you still take a lasseiz-faire attitude to those artistic depictions?
For examples of what I'm talking about, just google some of the cartoons about Jews circulating in Nazis Germany.
