Tool is progressive music that goes nowhere. Aenima was their last good album. They are musical autists.

Listened to it a few times and it hasn't really grabbed me yet. Huge Tool fan but i'm not sure about this one. Songs start out slow and start to build but it never really goes anywhere. Not like previous songs anyway. 7empest is probably the best song.

Might listen to it a few more times before I pass judgement.

Eh, just finished the album and not too impressed with it tbh. It was okay, but I was expecting better. 7empest is definitely the best song of the album

I'm almost convinced Tool had the album ready to go all along, but figured reception would've been lukewarm so they just sat on it until the fanbase started getting nostalgic.

It's awfully safe and really doesn't bring anything new or particularly satisfying to the table - same key, same licks, same riffs, even a bit less Keenan work it sounds like... I agree that 7empest was the best track, it at least does a good job at the shifty yet immersive dynamics the band is best known for. But for a 13 years wait... most of the positivity leans on them releasing something at all. Sure they carved a new niche in rock all by themselves, but I think Fear Inoculum is Tool saying "here's more of what you know, for we can no longer do better". The guys could be most Miscers' dads at this point so well, Tool's at the point where people go to concerts to listen them play their oldies but goodies.

Chit was leaked 6 days ago. Been listening to the album the whole week, solid album though I'd say Aenima and Lateralus were better.

MJK was on JRE a few years ago talking about the "new" Tool album, apparently they were tweaking it for years, trying to perfect it. Then they come out with...auto-tune...

Iโ€™m on Invincible and itโ€™s pretty good. Not a fan of how the bass has sounded the same for every song so far. Pneuma literally was nothing but recycled Tool riffs, and that interlude after was a joke....

This is probably the first time Iโ€™ve ever said anything negative about Tool

edit: First half of Invincible was ok. The second half is...not it fam.

Eh I just finished Pneuma, I really liked it. I'm listening to the interlude right now... tbh I expected these interludes by now on a Tool record. Fuk me I dont understand it though.

I think the album is phenomenal, takes a good amount off listening for the songs to really grow on you for a lot of them but Iโ€™ve always found that with tool.

Definitely not disappointed in this at all, I love it. Been listening to it since it leaked

Maybe I just need to listen to those songs again. Same happened with Fear Inoculum but I ended up really liking it after a second listen.

That first interlude though....it seriously sounded like a four year old playing with GarageBand

Album isn't too bad. I thought it would be much worst tbh. Definitely a few songs i really like but nothing really stands out like a Sober, Schism or Parabola.

7empest and Pneuma are legit good songs though
