some first images and video of the devestation in the bahamas-

https://weather.com/news/news/2019-0...mpacts-bahamas

whole bunch of pics at the bottom

The videos and pics of the damage in the Bahamas over the next week or so are gonna be some of the worst wind damage ever seen from a hurricane.

I dont think you even read a single word of that.

jarrell tornado - "The death count is 24 so far, including at least nine children."

"The bombs immediately devastated their targets. Over the next two to four months, the acute effects of the atomic bombings killed between90,000 and 146,000people in Hiroshima and 39,000 and 80,000 people in Nagasaki;roughly half of the deaths in each city occurred on the first day."

So close.

The Jarrell tornado is the most intense and strongest storm in recorded history. Nothing even comes close. It literally has been documented as the worst weather damage ever witnessed on earth.

interesting that it appears they're taking screenshots of video to add to the "pictures"

one of the first vids they show is used in the pics at the bottom

Anyone else just not scared of weather at all? The only thing Iโ€™d be scared of is a tornado. Seems like so many people suffer weather phobias and literally having panic attacks over this hurricane. I love storms and rain btw.

Hurricanes spawn tornados with in them.. katrina alone had over 50.

Not a single tornado will ever compare to the damage, death or cost of hurricanes.

This is obviously at a time when the wind was far less than what it was a short time prior to the videos.

ps. just found out those videos were inside the eye, meaning they probably got even worse winds once the backside of the eyewall blew in. The highest winds in a hurricane are usually from the right side eyewall (right side relative to the storms' direction of travel) and from there down to the rear eyewall.

8 PM update:

winds still 185 mph

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/gra...?cone#contents

lots of lightning still -

most hurricanes don't have that much lightning

The most accurate model for this storm so far has been the HWRF, and that currently has this making a direct hit on Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral.

I always wondered what the first European explorers/Columbus thought when they experienced their first direct hit hurricane. You will never get 150+ mph winds in Europe, they must have been like wtf is going on? Same with tornadoes... something like 90% of the world's tornadoes happen in America's tornado alley.

So I know most of the models are showing it taking a hard right and riding up the coast. Maybe it's because I know nothing about hurricanes, but it does look like it'll hit Florida dead on.
