yes

probably turn north before it hits Florida, but it could still go straight west into Florida near West Palm Beach, move up the coast a little and come inland near Cape Canaveral or Daytona Beach, or stay over the ocean following the coastline. In other words any of the above and nobody knows.

This is what the NHC currently thinks -https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/gra...?cone#contents

movement is slightly south of west, and further south and west than any models had it at this point -

https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/sat/...05L&product=ir

ie the models aren't working very well for this storm

here are the last 3 NHC forecast tracks on top of Dorian's current position -

note they had Dorian moving west-northwest at this point and instead it's moving very slightly south of west

So far their predictions are correct. It has practically stalled. Which gives me hope that it will turn north. That thing is literally east of me.

I'm supposed to be in Orlando Thursday and on a ship from Cape Canaveral Friday, not looking like that's gonna happen.

man the video/images coming out of the bahamas are horrifying. The ocean basically reclaimed the islands, buildings/roofs are all gone, cars flipped... and most of the shots were taken in the eye so the worst still was coming.

Right now the eye is straight up rekting that long skinny island, raking down it with the eye going 1-5mph. There's gunna be nothing left brahs

I know we gotta get through Dorian first but there’s reports of 2 additional storms developing into hurricanes behind this one. If this one disappointed any of you then maybe one of these will be total devastation.

Might be true, but they do this every time. Once everyone is hooked on the initial storm reports, they follow it up with "potential" new storm forecasts. Happens here all winter. Trumped up snow forecasts, then when they know people are tuned in they report on two more "potential" storms.

Pressure changes from the north will essentially steer it north...at least that is what we all hope for here. I went through Hurricane Andrew when I was young, but I'd rather not experience another Cat 5. Natives here we don't bat an eye for Cat 1 and 2, we'll raise an eyebrow for Cat 3, but Cat 4 and 5 we know is no joke. Hurricane Andrew dipped south at the last minute and hammered Miami.

Again, the only thing really has me worried are the tornadoes that spawn in the Hurricane. Not fun hiding out in the bathroom or walk in closet when that alert goes off.
