Who knows?... but participation in masonry is officially prohibited in Catholicism. The belief system espoused by masons contradicts Church doctrine, so any Catholic who gets involved with them is committing a mortal sin.

Don't know what their beliefs or values are but all I know is the roman catholic church prohibits their people from being freemasons. I am Christian not catholic but I will still steer clear. That isn't to say that they don't do any good, but I will not worship false deities or sit and pray among people who may be praying to other deities besides Yahweh/Jesus alone.

It's pretty obvious that whoever created that collage was trying to prove that putting one's hand inside one's shirt (coat) was a secret sign of freemasons, thus chose any pictures he could find of famous figures with their hands in their shirts (coats).

Meh, not Catholic. But clearly they don't want you to join another organization that couple be powerful at the time maybe? Couldn't care less what the Catholic church thinks. Plus they all say they don't talk about religion and it's frowned upon to do so. Seems most are Christians though.

Shriners International, or just Shriners, is/are an affiliation of the Freemasons. You become a Freemason and then can become a Shriner. I'm sure this depends on the area but there are still plenty of Catholics that are Freemasons, Shriners, etc. Around the area where my parents and grandparents grew up there was a huge Catholic population including a grandfather who was in and a bunch of his friends. I found out later in life about the Church being against Freemasonry and I am a little surprised because these older guys were all pretty solid Catholics IE ushers, volunteering, wives doing ladies auxiliary stuff, etc. My guess is that they probably didn't think it was a big deal because I'm sure they just sat around and drank and bull****ted instead of being in for any kind of religious reason. All were Shriners and were really active in the children's hospital stuff. I would love to ask them about it but he died years ago and I'm not in any kind of contact with his drinking buddies.

Also, I'm not going to pretend I know anything more than what I posted about through my minimal direct contact and knowledge. That being said I seriously doubt all the tinfoil hat stuff people post but who knows, crazier things have happened.

You can get more bang for your buck elsewhere.

I was a member of THE fraternity. This hot chick approached me to get into it and this old guy wanted me to kill the guy who killed my dad (I never knew my dad). I thought it would be fun and I could bang the hot chick but they just kept beating the chit outta me and making me practice shooting a bunch. Anyways I ended up killing the guy they wanted me to but it turned out HE was my dad all along. I ended up going old testament on those pricks which was satisfying but the hot chick off'd herself before I got a chance to bang.

It's a lot of gophering. They're going to ask for a lot of your time as membership is dwindling. Hell in my area they advertise for new members on the radio which means people aren't beating down the door to get in. It's a social club with a bunch of metaphysical side crap. You're better off just joining a local social club without all the religious baggage.

I really don't see what it would hurt to try to attend a meeting or two.

Do they have younger members? I have no idea if it is mostly older guys now. As far as networking, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.
