If you do what you have proposed there, your triceps won’t be at all stimulated, so they you have to go and hit them with a ton of skullcrushers etc in order to ensure they are worked.

I'll keep benching because it's a top 3 exercise for building chest size for me.

A properly performed bench shouldn’t be leading to injuries, if your scapula is retracted tightly, your grip isn’t too wide, elbows tucked as much as possible, controlled eccentric, pause on chest, full lockout etc. As long as you’re adding weight slowly and in small increments, it’s a very safe exercise.

What would happen is I'd train around 155kg (reps and sets, not 1RM, obviously), then get it up to 160 or so then bam, something goes, usually rotator cuff, sometimes lower back, sometimes wrist, even the neck has been injured, then I would have time off or lightened, once back into it I'd drop down to 130kg, then there would be the pretty quick climb up to 150kg, the slow struggle back to 160kg (sometimes takes several months), and bam, happens again. I've been in that cycle for a few years now.
I think my form is pretty good, nice tempo etc and I've got to feel it's probably around my natural limit, it won't go much higher at least and if I try keep that up forever one day a big injury will come along.
Either way, I don't really feel more satisfied with life the more my bench goes up and this new training style isn't significantly weakening me so far.
But thanks for the advice fam, and you're spot on about adding in small increments, it's the only way to go.

stop bench pressing man, you don't need the compound movement that effectively works out the chest and other muscles and makes you a chit ton stronger in different lifts as well

I mean, I guess if it works for you then go ahead, but the BP is a fundamental compound movement.
Idk, I'm just a firm believer that compound movements (especially one of the "big 3") should never be neglected.

Old school bodybuilders concentrated on the bench press for size
The greatest chest were built under the flat bench press; it’s more of a form issue than exercise issue. Proper form, controlled rep whilst doing time under tension on the flat bench will stimulate enormous growth on anyone’s chest.

My chest sucks dik. Can never get it to grow properly at all. Such a weak spot.
I usually do something like;
Incline BB:
5 sets, 10-14 reps range, gradually increasing weight upto around 100kg for around 10-12 reps
Flat BB
Same as above
DB Flies Incline
5 sets / 10-14 reps
DB Flat Flies
Same as above
Cable Flies
Same as above.
Dunno if im just activating more shoulder/triceps to the push, or maybe cos my arms are short something like a bench press is wasted on me and I should focus more on flies?
Or maybe im just not lifting heavy enough

I never bench press. I wait til someone else does then I proceed to eat their ass, getting their bench press nutrients and increasing my strength via neural adaptation.

Perhaps you can keep the rep range between 8-6 on bench and 10-8 on flies with heavier weights.
What helped me personally is to hit chest a minimum of twice a week. I train it 3x a week these days since they were lagging.
Ps: If you want to develop your outer chest below the arm pit, what really helped me were dumbbell flies but keeping a 12 inch gap at the top (so not bringing them all the way together). This keeps constant tension on your chest and improved my chest by a ton.

Whenever I hear someone say they bench respectable weight but they can’t grow their chest, often they are not sinking the bar into their chest, holding it perfectly still for at least a second, and then exploding up. I could add 50 pounds to my bench by either skipping the bottom few inches, or bouncing the bar off my chest.
Not saying that’s you at all, I’ve never seen you bench, but if you can bench 100kg for 12 clean pause reps your chest should be looking monstrous.

You don't need to look like you actually lift either apparently
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.
The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."
The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

It's not about pecs, it's not about triceps. This compound exercise is one of what I've been working at for the last 40 years.
All those hours, all those pre-workout anxieties and all those post-workout euphoria because of the passion to succeed at what I like and love the most.
Fly, machine fly!? Not even heavy dumbbell fly? OP, you are kidding me, even a rat on wheel could have a life better than that.
Doesn't matter whether one is using barbell or dumbbells, it's one of the very core of the life for every one who has a pair and still lift seriously.

It's time for my beauty sleep..... *Yawn*
